Catherine: The Pre-Postmortum

Catherine, Atlus' first foray into developing a PS3/Xbox 360 game themselves, hits Japanese stores tomorrow. It's a bit of an odd game, telling the story of a love triangle gone wrong through adventure- and puzzle-based gameplay -- and according to director Katsura Hashino, that strangeness is completely by design.

I hope it does well. The better it does the more likely it might be localized.

i'm enjoying the game and the story but I'm not sure how well this will translate in the west. jaapense culture pay close attention to these things and the personal reaction of the charcters are very japanese (not that thats bad).

the puzzle and gameplay are addictive (especially if you like puzzle games) and overall presentation is great but personally i'm usure how gamers will take it over here ...

Well, It's one of those things. Atlus, NIS and other eastern oriented publishers/developers have shown that there is an audience in the west for such games.

They aren't always million+ sellers, but it's possible to make a profit and in cases like demon's souls, have goty material on your hands.

Plus, most of these games only require a text translation because the majority of the people who buy these games are absolutely fine having the language staying in it's native tongue.

I wouldn't be surprised if catherine has a NA release. Atlus would be stupid to not do it because critics and fans alike have been foaming at the mouth for this game.
