War Has Begun.

M-Easy5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

Hells yeah, go get 'em Sony. Us real gamers don't want these hackers ruining our hobby. PERMA-BAN!

Abash5608d ago

Fathers, lock your doors and windows, and hide your hackers from Sony

Redman225608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

No mercy, Sony! To all the hackers out there I just want to know one thing ---> http://i.imgur.com/vy6RL.gi...

(lol my gif of the moment)

Soldierone5608d ago

Hackers lol. The real hackers are in court, this is just for the cheaters that pretend to be hackers by downloading or paying for programs.

either way, GO SONY GO! Cant wait till the first wave of bans start next week thanks to KZ3.

Gothdom5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

What I did last week was befriend a couple of CFW users, take pictures of them using crap like "comgenie's" file manager and report them. You can find dumbasses easily in ps3 hacks forums.

TheDivine5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

@ Gothdom
Frankie, you broke the unwritten rule, you ratted on your friends. When you do that your enemies dont respect you, you got no friends.

Dude WTF. Yea piracy is wrong but SNITCHING on people is even worse. People who do wrong will get jammed up on their own. Its karma.

Afro-Ninja25608d ago

@TheDevine: read properly, he's not their friend, he found hackers, sent them friend invites only to prove they're guilty.

lilmetal5608d ago

Really unnecessary.
Sony can detect consoles that are modified just fine.
Just consider this a 'final chance' for them.
They'll allow anyone using a modified firmware to go legit.
For a little while, anyways.
Then anyone else they detect will just be denied PSN access.

Nitrowolf25608d ago

I could have sworn people on this site claimed that Sony can't do anything
wonder where they are now

jjohan355608d ago

You guys think they'll ban the accts or ban the console? It makes more sense if they ban the console, since you can create multiple accts easily.

GrandTheftZamboni5607d ago

@Abash

"Fathers, lock your doors and windows, and hide your hackers from Sony"

or at least buy them some Vaseline to soothe the pain...

Iroquois_Pliskin5607d ago

To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.

Pirate: ARRRRGHH, i bettarrrrr remove all me pirated games before sony be gettin mee arghhh

elmaton985607d ago

Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

This is great news and one of the best ps3 news today.

Mahr5607d ago

"I could have sworn people on this site claimed that Sony can't do anything wonder where they are now"

Waiting for the CFW bans to start falling, because once they do, the CFW community can begin work to reverse-engineer the security checks to bypass it. It's a matter of time, really.

Worst case scenario, we have to buy a dirt-cheap used-PS3. Small price to pay for freedom. :-)

Studio-YaMi5607d ago (Edited 5607d ago )

@ Mahr
Freedom my ass
you people can try to justify this as much as you please,in the end of the day,you are nothing but pathetic pirates who love getting things for free instead of supporting your economy!

Bottom line is :
GET A FREAKIN JOB !

and if you're going to go with the "I have a job" excuse then get off your ass, head to a store, and buy your things!

Mahr5607d ago (Edited 5607d ago )

"you people can try to justify this as much as you please,in the end of the day,you are nothing but pathetic pirates who love getting things for free"

If you want to try to insult and/or guilt trip me for something that I have never done nor intend to do, I suppose that is your right. However, I should advise you that such attempts will bounce right off of my clean conscience.

"instead of supporting your economy!"

'Freedom' and 'getting things for free' are not the same thing. Is that not obvious?

There are plenty of benefits to a jailbroken PS3 that have nothing to do with piracy or cheating online, and there is no reason why I, as a paying customer, should not be free to enjoy them.

rockleex5607d ago

The Sony Ninjas are coming for the Pirates!

moodymofo5607d ago

@ mahr

looks like you should be mad at the ones who abused hacking not us or sony its because of the abusers you lost your "freedom" .sometimes in many instances groups of people have to pay for the actions of others, unrelated to thier own personal intentions

Mahr5607d ago

"looks like you should be mad at the ones who abused hacking not us or sony its because of the abusers you lost your "freedom""

In the first place, you are acting like I can only be mad at one person at a time. Let me assure you, this is not the case.

In the second, there is such a thing as a reasonable response. If you respond to an action in a manner which is unreasonable, then yes, you bear blame for that.

"sometimes in many instances groups of people have to pay for the actions of others, unrelated to thier own personal intentions"

Sorry, 'Kill them all and let god sort it out' is most assuredly NOT a reasonable response.

Actually... I am at Sony HQ... and I'm playing it right now. So I guess you are correct

monkpunk15608d ago

you have started something... lol a message was left for a hacker, sounds like Kevin Butler? lol

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

jut4205608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

Sounds like Sony is giving anyone that hacked their PS3's one last chance before you are permabanned from PSN, which would actually pretty nice of them. I wish cheaters and pirates were gone day 1

Legion5607d ago

Actually what they are attempting to do is scare tactics. Ultimately they have very little capabilities to catch those using pirated material. Unfortunately the method of pirating games in this instance are at the root level.

MaximusPrime5608d ago

Let me say it in Yoda's word: "Began, the war has" ;)

lil Titan5607d ago

There Official Statement Video. all you have to do is replace whale with Geohot and dolphin with hackers

SONY, YOU GOTem man, you gotem!

TheBatman_Fanatic5607d ago

And I have no doubt Sony is going to come out on top.

Hackers are gonna lose with their false pretense of trying to free the PS3 from the deathgrip of Sony. More like trying to not pay for games

darksied5608d ago

I would be happier if there was no warning, and it was permanent "bricks," not bans. That would be awesome. All these losers waking up to use their ps3 online, and ... BRICK.

digitalivan5608d ago

Yeah and than Sony would get sued. Sony is not allowed to deliver justice by bricking consoles. The law can deal with pirates, Sony can only block them from PSN.

Dark_king5608d ago

@digitalivan actually Sony can wipe the software off your system if they chose. It belongs to them and they have the legal right to take it away.

Prototype5608d ago

Watch the big flux of used ps3 sales at gamestop and ebay

Whoever does buy a used PS3 please ask questions to verify your getting a legit ps3 and not a banned one

akaFullMetal5608d ago

wow permanent bans.......pirates are going to get mad, haha

plb5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

Haven't they already been handling permabans or is this new? Another thing, If I was in the market for another PS3, I'd be skeptical about buying a used one at this point.

Octo15608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

The recent bans were only for Activisions COD servers. This will be a ban for your PS3 to access PSN so in a nut shell its the same thing that MS have been doing with modded/hackes 360's.

Soldierone5608d ago

Off ebay yes. From gamestop no. 1 Gamestop will check it for online connections before accepting it, and 2 if its banned and not damaged then Gamestop will call Sony and un ban it before selling it.

Zashule5608d ago

@Soldierone
You have waaayyy too much faith in GameStop. I can tell you that is false on both counts. 1. They didn't bother to check out my Wii when I traded it in to them, their loss, it had GPU problems that added artifacts on the screen, and I saw it for sale the next day. 2. GameStop doesn't have that much pull with Sony, mainly because the hacked console would still have the same hacked firmware on it when they sold it, so there is no way Sony would clear it and let a modded console go out the door. 3. Have you ever bought a 'used' 360 at GameStop? They do not check for sysbans.

PS3Freak5608d ago

I hope they cry, those dirty stinkin pirates. Ninjas are better anyway...

Mikelarry5608d ago

We all knew this was coming.i mean hacking to cheat in an online game REALLY come on

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8558d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele58d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk58d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay58d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10159d ago (Edited 59d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit58d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg58d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10157d ago (Edited 57d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14958d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle71d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit71d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog71d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog71d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad71d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_71d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage71d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda71d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
