Okay, so the actual game here isn't very good. But let's be honest -- not everyone interested in Neptunia is interested in it for quality RPG gameplay. A lot of folks are looking for a slice of Japanese otaku life as a video game, or just some anime fan-service, and if that's you, you won't be disappointed. But if you're hoping for the next Final Fantasy, or some genuinely funny (or even interesting) writing, this is not the way you want to go.
Noisy Pixel Explores the History of Hyperdimension Neptunia in Video Series focusing on the game's inception in Japan and its release in the west on PS3.

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Console wars have been around pretty much since the dawn of videogames, but the Hyperdimension Neptunia series makes light of these arguments by personifying consoles and their manufacturers as cute goddesses and has them battle it out for supremacy. It proved to be a sleeper hit for publisher Compile Heart, who after an initially shaky start with the first entry transformed the series into its most compelling franchise."

I (Robin Ek, TGG) just spotted a super sexy cosplay of Neptune from "Hyperdimension Neptunia". Yes, I think it's safe to say that Mikki Monster nailed her Neptune cosplay like a boss.
@Simon_the_sorcerer "Since you got the interview, may one drop you a few interview questions?"
- Sure =) You could drop the questions here on the post itself.
what a terrible review form a site who use to be good
"Japan-centric content and tone may alienate some Western gamers" is a CON NOW?????????
and the rest of the cons are just nitpicky whinings
Everything doesnt have to be the same
shame on you gamepro, I guess this is the reason your magazine tanked.........
its still better than that overhyped crap called Final fantasy hehehehhehehe
Oh, this reviewer sounds like one of my childhood friends when playing videogames together:
"Dude skip the talking there's too much talking!"
I don't think that what the reviewer calls "Endless swathes of pointless dialogue" is necessarily a bad thing, but more of an opinion. More than a few people actually LIKE mindless character interaction and chatter, myself being an example of that.
This is a pretty subjective review, to be honest.
This game was always only gonna be bought and liked by a niche group of gamers...me among them :p
Pre-ordered the premium version about an hour ago. Good times.
