Mac? Gaming? Wut iz thes men?

visualb5567d ago

i got steam on my 4 year old MBP

it works well =)

mac gaming is shallow, but hey better than ever before =D

SuperKing5567d ago

I don't even know why you want Steam on a Mac, because to me that's a crime. Unless your deprived of a PC then I apologise.

visualb5567d ago (Edited 5567d ago )

a crime? why because I give my money to devs I respect and can play games on any platform?

wow...if thats a crime than look at yourself again before you call yourself a gamer

more good games available on a platform = better

basic

and I don't need your apology, I'm enjoying myself without a gaming rig just fine

save your pity for yourself

SuperKing5567d ago

Woah, don't throw your iPod at me pal, I was only kidding around. lol

arjman5567d ago

Dude I installed Windows 7 on my Mac and play games all the time...L4D2, Dead Space, Crysis... You name it...

Although I didn't buy it to play games on it, it was a gift, a hand-me-down from dad, I think it was an excuse for him to get a Macbook Pro :P

As good as Mac gaming is, I would never buy one solely for gaming, Desktop PC FTW!

SuperStrokey11235567d ago

Most mac "gaming" isnt even really gaming. Its just a bunch of casual popcap style games for the most part. They fill the void for 2 minute gaps.

This is of course a generalization but its fairly accurate.

darrensworld5567d ago

yes because cs: source, portal, the upcoming portal 2, killing floor, l4d2 and all the games on coming to steam:mac are casual popcap.

SuperStrokey11235567d ago

Its a generalization, most of the games on the Apple platform are an after thought to the PC and consoles, there are lots of good games for sure but they come way later typically and in far smaller numbers.

Its not fair to say all games are (like i said its a generalization) but as a general rule it stand as correct.

arjman5567d ago

You've obviously never owned a mac...

SuperStrokey11235567d ago

Ive own 2 in the past and 1 now. All the mac fanboys are going to come and get me but you need to face it, the mac isnt even in the running when people look at gaming machines.

arjman5567d ago

Have you ever installed bootcamp on it?
Not saying it's a 'gaming' machine, but they're certainly capable of playing games

SuperStrokey11235566d ago

Personally i have never used bootcamp, i have heard great things abotu it though from my brother in law who is a huge Mac fan (he got rid of all his PCs) and he loves it. I should try that before saying its "terrible" thats a fair point.

arjman5566d ago

Man what are you waiting for??!?!??! :P
Bootcamp is THE gateway to gaming...
Every Windows game runs on the Mac with all the driver updates for Windows...
I love it when my flat mates say Macs are crap and Windows rules and I say, I've got both hahaha best of both worlds :P

sorry but mac gaming is wac gaming lol

BulletToothtony5567d ago

Men the ignorance of some people is unbelievable!

I play CS:S Starcraft II on ULTRA Warcraft, CoD4 Portal several times a week.

I know that most people that hate Macs don't own one or have ever. But to think that Macs can't run games anymore it's silly.

I do most of my gaming on my ps3 so i don't need a super strong pc, My iMac takes care of my pc cravings.

If you're not familiar with Macs do us a favor and don't post stupid opinions that are lies, simply because you hear everyone else saying the same old thing.

Macs have had "decent" video cards since 2008, saying that it can't play any games it's like saying that the ps3 doesn't have any games. Old silly lies.

Fetts15566d ago

I'm the author of this post. I own 3 Macs and a PC, so I think my opinion is correct for my beliefs. Remember, it's an OPINION and isn't necessarily truth.

Geostar5565d ago

This is submitted as an OPINION PIECE for a reason! ;)

Yes! Even though I have quite a big back-log, I'm still excited for this. I hope the wolf among us and TWD season 2 get a decent sale.

iRocket4575d ago

I wouldn't count for TWD Season 2 sale, because it is just releasing. Maybe in the Holiday sale it will be something like 25% off.

UltimateMaster4575d ago

As a gamer, I am grateful that we get theses sales from Steam and PlayStation.
I never run out of sales on games, and most of them are real good deal.
A few weeks before, you could have had The Last of Us for 36$.
It's a good time to be a gamer.

Software_Lover4575d ago

And now Steam will wait one week before the sales begin to email devs because of leakers. It clearly states "do not make the dates public".

Now if Valve sues they will look like the bad guy, even though everyone already knows that the sales are very close.

_QQ_4575d ago

knowing valve they will make the sales one week before just to be awesome.
-gabe knows best.

killatia4575d ago

What I wanna know is if the winter sells will have it own set of trading cards like the simmer sell did.

JohnHeatz4575d ago

They probably will, given that previously you earned the holiday badge by completing "challenges" (buying stuff/voting/etc.) and they changed that for trading cards...as well, they need to keep people interested in the trading cards, because on the market, people are already selling them x2 expensive than what they were in the beginning

DxTrixterz4575d ago (Edited 4575d ago )

Ohh I can't wait. It's time to prepare my wallet for it. November will be financially breaking month for me. First November steam sale then PS4. I'm starting to feel sorry for my wallet. I absolutely loved summer steam sale. I got about 50 games of it.

Best of Steam’s Freebies: Part One

The Steam Summer Sale is now past us, and many of us who participated are still looking at our libraries in awe regarding how many games we were able to acquire for the amount we paid. But as we look at the list, we realize that many were impulse buys, and some we’ve already beaten. So you want to play something else? That’s completely understandable. There’s just one issue: money. And that’s understandable too! You can’t give Steam all of your money! But what’s a fella to do? Well, here are some of Steam’s best free-to-play games that are waiting for you to put your wallet aside and start playing right now...
