EA: PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere

PC gaming is live and well, it's just moved into the online space, EA's Darkspore executive producer Michael Perry has told VideoGamer.com.

Asked for his opinion on the state of PC gaming, Perry said: "Well, it's been really interesting to watch because I think that a lot of that debate has been really focused on traditional PC gaming, and single-player games. But the reality is PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere, PC gaming has gone online."

EA: "PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere"

So that's why PC gamers always get the crappy second-hand ports from console versions in most of your games. I see.......

mfw how do you port something made on pc to pc

like i dont understand that so did they make it on pc port it to console and then port what was ported to console to pc

AhnnQuirajj5569d ago

He's talking about a game made on the PC thats designed for console players but not had many significant changes for PC players, have had console specific messages left in or the whole thing feels simplified in comparison to what you might expect in the game.

Maybe they make more money from Console software sales. I mean Piracy is quite big on PC (I think, if not please correct me). It's the same with Multiplatform games on Xbox and PS3. If they know the game will sell more on Xbox, that's the console they focus on more, usually ending up with PS3 having an inferior port.

I don't know how bad Piracy is on PC but if the devs know their game will be Pirated quite alot then they aren't going to spend alot of their time improving the PC version.

tdrules5569d ago

publishers don't tell developers which platform to lead on, its which they're more confident with.
MS are quite good at developer support, hence why in the early days most games looked better on 360, now Sony has woken up and supported developers they're starting to perform better on ps3

P1NKY5569d ago

WHat about the games that are supposedly developed side-by-side. Surely they will put more resources into the version that will sell more.

But I do agree with, multiplatform games have become very close grpahically to one another. Dead Space 2 not only looks good but it's identical on both consoles and performs flawlesly.

Piracy or not. Its not the 1 factor holding PC platform down. Certainly piracy exists in a large form on PC. Who is to blame for this? Well games are made for Windows or Mac or console. So who makes Windows? Ah the people that give such great console support.

They really don't care about PC game piracy cuz they lack the ability to make a PC game anymore.

PC games don't die every year or two like console games either. Clans live for more than a decade on decade old games and longer. You can buy a server and slap just about any game you want on it to support an online dedicated match. Alot of PC gamers don't feel the need to jump to every new PC game because they enjoy the game they have found and stay there.

I WANT THE PC GAMING TO LIVE LONG. PLEASE BUY THE FxxxING GAMES!!!!!!!!!! PIRATE IS STEALING AND IF YOU WANT TO STEAL GO RUB THE BANK TOO!!!!!

PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere. Michael Perry finally woke up and realized that PC Gamers are just more into games that rely heavily on strategy, teamwork, and realism. Many PC gamers play MMO's RPG's and RTS because of the depth of the games.

The games that are big money makers on the consoles are just a part of PC gaming as the PC has it's own wave of games that dominate the platform. Also many titles started on the PC, became popular and moved to the console and with that move the game totally changed therefore turning PC gamers away from it. Big example Call of Duty.

The consoles are a huge investment for Sony Nintendo and M$ so they have to put a lot of resources behind them to maximize their return in profits before the system dies. The PC is forever. Pick any classic title from 10 15 20 years ago and it will easily run today.

Do you really read the article before commenting. You jerk! The developer is defending the PC gaming, it says it's not going anywhere by meaning of it wont die. READ before commenting!

Many games on PC, these days are digital only.

Even the Store bought PC versions are just a steam download on a disk.

Then you have many PC games being MMOs these days, these games don't work well on a console you need many keys/buttons for them and the Asian MMOs are made mainly for a mouse.

There are still alot of single player games on the pc so I am not sure what hes talking about

Sarcasm5569d ago

How thick are some of you guys?

He's saying in defense of PC games that they haven't gone anywhere but migrated online in terms of social interactivity.

Psychotica5569d ago

I still prefer a good single player PC game

DevilsOwn5569d ago

This is coming from the same company who refused to release Dead Space 2 DLC for the PC, even though it was already present on the disc. Nice EA.

spdarksky5569d ago

Same company but different team and studios. So basically Dead Space studio and Maxis studio is not working with each other so we cant blame them for the other team's / studios lack of support.
