If you have a HDTV why are you not interested in HD video? You bought it because you want better quality. I don't think people are making the choice that standard DVD is better, I think they just don't know.

Then I read this. Bluray is one of the big reasons the PS3 is not selling well. It contributed to the PS3's high price tag. It's delay for almost a year....etc. Not to mention, HDTV's are not mainstream. This feature will only benefit about 20% of the population. And an even smaller margin of people that bought the PS3. Not to mention if a large portion of PS3 buyers, buy it as a Bluray player. IE they will never buy games. This will lead to a horrible games attach rate. Which will equal dwindled 3rd party support. One good example of this is Capcom and Sega holding off on PS3 production until they analyze the PS3 sales. As well as EA not viewing the PS3 as a primary platform anymore.

go to amazon and read the PS3's excellent reviews. A lot are dual console owners and the truth hurts. One guy had four comments from 360 owners willing to trade for his PS3! It was from a couple days ago! The games are hot, and the movies are blockbuster. What could I buy on any console to substitute Uncharted, Ratchet, UT3, Singstar, Warhawk, GTPrologue and Heavenly Sword experience this Holiday? How come 14 of the 20: 2007 blockbusters exclusive to blu ray? Sony has some marketing to do, ya think?

the ps3 isn't that bad of a system, the only reason people are dissin is because it's so freakin exspensive

i am pretty well educated and i know a little of everything.. and yes the bluray it's a pretty new technology

but it wasn't until around december of last year that i learned everything about HD, i had no idea of the big difference, and had no idea of HD DVD and bluray, i had no idea of upscaled dvd's and all the functions of the ps3

i didn't learn most of these things until i bought them.. now it's sounds even stupid that people have not heard about it, but the truth is that even me at 27y/o pc gamer had not heard of all this new technology..

sony really needs to step up and get some good adverstisement going on.. they should make commercials like the iphone one, showing all the stuff that the ps3 does.. i mean come one, the this is living commercials are completely crap..

i don't even know how the ps3 has sold so well without the adverstisement it should have.. so for them to show off the bluray should help.. even thou i didn't buy the ps3 for bluray, i bought it for the games.. it doesn't hurt to let people know there's a new awesome technology..

Its just that wii is doing so well, but it just seems like a last gen system. And Im quite sure it is not used a primary sytem.

Stop comparing the lastgen. cube with the PS3, the PS3 is almost triple the price of that overpriced POS.

For anyone to think ps3 is not struggling right now has to be on glue. Like you really think they planned on having this little sales .......... prob expected at the least double what is out right now........... In the end it prob will pass 360 and get closer to the Wii but it wont happen till its cheap enough for all those people that have ps2's to pony up the cash to buy one so we will have to wait a few years for that maybe another 1-2 years to see it thrive...

Plus it may have blue ray but if you dont got the games to jusify the price then what ya gonna do???? It is a game console don't forget.

It is a decent console and i'm sure it will sell eventually but for anyone who knows better and is not a fan boy its just not worth it right now.

And btw if you have been reading there is new hardware that beats the crap outa blue ray using a normal dvd cd to make 50 gb on one side so looks like your format is just an overpriced and over glorified piece of hardware.

Sony needs to fix alot more than price people move on as they have always done.

most people are so stupit they have no idea what blue tooth is, and thats OLD technology, let alone blu-ray.

most ppl have NO IDEA what a blu ray player is and do no know its in the ps3. kids begging their mom to buy them one may say "its also a blu ray player" but unlike the ps2 (when dvd was new) that point is mute (funny how the 360 still uses a dvd drive eh LOL)

good news is the ps3 is not even a year old. it has sold more units then the lolbox did in the first year already, so just do the math.

but, there are a TON of snotty tennies out there (lolbox target audience). while these kids will grow up to be low lifes (why else are you SOOO excited about DLC for GTA, GTA is a game about becoming a professional criminal!) the US sales alone will keep the lol box around for awhile.

With microsoft you had "the choice" to upgrade to a high definition player.

Sega gave you a "choice" to upgrade their propietory format and it BOMBED and Sega went down as a company. Ironically this is when Pete Moore was there. XBOX will be going down because they have no identity on what kind of console it wants to be.

If sony is forcing blu-ray like you Microboys and XBots are saying, Yall need to face REAL FACTS that Microsoft is trying to force Windows down your throats on a supposed GAMING Machine and that aint right.

Well since the ps3's gaming library is absolutely a joke and can't match the 360's AAA titles, I think it would be good idea to start to promote the ps3 as a cheap bluray player. But they better hurry up, Hi Def movie players are coming down in price pretty fast.

Man, Gates and Microsoft have been sticking it to the masses for more then 2 years with the defective 360s and their rrod problem. They have spent over 1.9 billion to mask a problem that they should have been dealing with fixing for a long time now. They aren't making any money on their 360 system. The 360 is struggling and failing and they don't care. My friend just got his so called fixed 360 back 2 days ago and it already messing up. What is up Microsoft. The 360 does have more games right now, but they should they had an extra year to do it. Their list of aaa games isn't that overwhelming. Hell, even their belove halo 3 came up short in the graphic department. This games should have been better looking considering how long it took to come out. Their xboxlive is far from perfect also. I would hate for 360 to be the only console outthere, because I can't depend on a company that keeps sticking it to the people. I can't wait for Killzone 2 to comeout. I liked the originals dark storyline and gritty graphics over Halo 2's story and flat terrain graphics.

Maybe if sony focused on the games with the PS3 it would do better. For me if i was going to get a blu-ray or HD-DVD player i would want a high quality stand alone player. I want a console that plays games, and has a great selection of games.

Sony keeps telling it's fans to wait for great games while it pushes blu-ray. So basically don't expect great games on the PS3 until blu-ray is the standard. How many of the average consumer really care about blu-ray at this point, they want a game console that has a lot of great games. When sony sees this they will sell more consoles.

The PS3 has Blu-Ray for a reason. Sony chose to not go cheap and it has cost them some sales, but it’s amazing you see comparisons to the cheapest versions of hardware out there like this article. The PS3 is very close to the 360 Elite in price and is built for the future.

Yes, there are 30+ dollar movies out there, but there are also many Blu-Ray movies that are much cheaper like Black Hawk Down ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/... for $13.95. This is very comparable to DVD

I also agree that I would NOT own a PS3 or 360 without at least a 720p/1080i display (mine is 1080i now, but I will be getting a full 1080p set soon). Both are HD consoles and need HD to get their true value. The fact that the PS3 has Blu-Ray built in is just extra value for your HD gaming dollar.

u have to realize xboxians that the x360 is not a game console. it should be called a PC console. 90% of ur games are PC games. so when u have a true game console, come over here and talk!!!!!
