First Person Shooters aren’t made the same way as they were in the 90s. Games like DOOM and numerous other FPS games at the time required more than just a happy trigger finger to get past most of the levels. They required skill, patience and a lot of exploration for you to complete the games.
Evercade has teased a new DOOM release for their platform.
I hope they make a Doom themed VS unit with red lighting. it will be like the Duke 3d one they did a couple years ago.

Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Licensing issues often leave many games forgotten. But all that aside, here are 10 classic games desperate for remasters.
The getaway
Smugglers run
Dead to rights
Worlds scariest police chases
Sure I’m missing a few.
Ape Escape.
Fun game but, wow, you need a college degree to understand the controls.
A remaster would also save you from having to constantly fight the camera.
Keep the music though. Those drum and bass tracks fit really well and haven't aged. Made me think that more games could work well with drum and bass tracks, but unfortunately it's a somewhat niche genre now.
Xenogears, Xenosaga trilogy, Vagrant Story, Drakengards, Parasite Eve and many more but I’ll start with those
FPS/Rpg is the way to go as it offers more depth on story and game play to the Single player side which is sometimes being forgotten with the blind rush for a online component being glued to every game now a days.
I can't think of too many if any FPS non linear shooters on consoles to be honest.
That's one thing I found really interesting about bioshock.
Linear isn't a bad thing. but It's nice to have variety.
writer must've recently played doom
BioShock constantly comes to mind when I think of a non-linear FPS.
