I won't lie, I do care about the price, but I'll probably find a way to get the thing if it is higher than I hope (eyes shut, fingers crossed tightly).

Heh slap a new Monster Hunter on it and it will sell fast in Japan. Umm...there are a variety of games to chose from in America to make it sell as well. Though the bells and whistles certainly help it to.

Honestly, both articles were poorly written, the one that complained about the NGP screen size and lack of original games and this one with "More power = much better games" really doesn't prove anything.

See, for the most part, I agree with this article that people have this misconception that the PSP was a failure. It clearly wasn't. It lived SIX years in the market and still strong, over those six years of its life it had a strong lineup of games. We're talking about games that were selling over the million mark. Sure, piracy and hacks ruined the PSP in general but that didn't stop games like MGS:PW and the new Monster Hunter to sell over a million copies.

Second, let's forget the power this hand held has, let's forget the dual analog sticks and its other features. Let's look at this system as a gaming device: Sony Playstation has more than 5 triple A titles under its belt, we're talking about old games like MGS, Gran Turismo, God of War, Twisted Metal, Killzone, new IP titles like Uncharted, Resistance, infamous, little big planet and etc.

Do you really think sony will not whore out these titles on the NGP? Especially when they also have more titles from the PSP era that can also come to the NGP (Patapon, Loco Roco).

So, again, should we fear that the NGP wont have any good games? I think not. Would they be innovated? Innovation doesn't always equal success. It all about how good the game is, how FUN it is.

Then we have this article, he thinks that the NGP will succeed because of its power, dual touch pads and analog sticks. No, that doesn't prove anything, it'll entice developers but at the end of the day, if it doesn't have a good game then it wont be a good system, no matter how good the system itself is. Which, to me, it'll have one of the best games based on its 1st party and 3rd party games that have been on previous PlayStation consoles.

NGP will succeed, wont dominate the market (sadly) but will sell another 60million+ consoles for the next five years.

I know for sure that it will do better than the PSP. But they are right gimmicks do have the tendency to sell a lot

Please like anybody should have a single doubt in their mind that ngp won't succeed & it wouldn't shock me if this time there's a 50/50 audience split between 3DS & NGP just like sega & nintendo did in the 16 bit era with snes & genesis.After all history has a funny way of repeating itself folks don't ignore history or it will come back to bite you on the arse.

I think the psp2 will be a hit with the core gamers but they will need to do alot more than uc kz mgs ect to bring the none core gamers to its device. Nintendo this Gen have managed to open up both the ds and the Wii to a new market as well as the core and it has worked out very well for them. Sony now need to bring back the core games but also games like crash and puzzle game to have a chance at beating the 3ds. For some tease Sony have seemed to of lost what the ps brand stood for at the begging. Don't underestimate the power of Playstation and are just looking at making there console more powerfull than any one elses but look at the past gens the lest powerful consoles won ps1 & 2 Wii snee nes. I think the psp2 will sell double the psp sales but I don't think it will out sell the 3ds. But when all said and done I can't wait to pick up a psp2 it dose look amazing.

All depends on price tbh. Tech is there and is much more powerful then the 3ds by a large margin.

But if the price is too much, it won't do the numbers.

But seriously in the article talking about smartphones etc, that isn't what i'd call gaming.

NGP does everything a home console can do. that is where it's at.

For NGP Sony only need do this.

JAPAN - RPG'S, and some crazy games they like over there.

USA - FPS/TPS/RACING/SPORTS

Europe - TPS/FPS/RACING/ADVENTURE/SPORT S

The PSP, at launch was ahead of its time. The whole idea of playing games, watching films, listening to music, storing photos, and browsing the internet on one portatble device was unheard of. Even more so the prospect of remote play was revolutionary in gaming.

However, alot of these features were never utilised to their full potential, both by Sony and the consumer. E.g. The browser was cumbersome and was hardly used, UMDs were expensive and had horrible load times, etc.

Smart phones offered an easier and more convinient way of doing the things above, and the only thing unique about the PSP became its hardcore games. Such as the GOWs, Resistance, KZ, LBP, etc, which only gamers were interested in and not the mass market who wanted all the other things that were now being done better and faster than the PSP.

The NGP is in a unique position where in now offeres all the above, except being a phone. It will always attract the hardcore, but now it extends to so many more people.

I beleve that the 3DS will outsell the NGP, just because of the sheer popularity of the DS and also the novelty factor. What the NGP needs is RPGs and titles like Monster Hunter, Yakuza, etc for Japan, and tailor the games to suit the relevant markets.

It will be interesting to see how developers incorporate the touch pad. I'd really like to see puzzle solving (imagine echochrome!), platformers, etc. Or stabbing the touch pad/screen to see Kratos rip something apart... I am definitely getting one on launch. I love my PSP and play it to this day.

At first i was like " meh nothing special"

But then when I saw the AR and the ability to change the weather in real time i was like "Holy crap"

And shes right the grass must look great with the OLED screen. The tech and games are amazing for this handheld.

Day one for me:

1. 3G Vita
2. Wipeout
3. Ruin
4. Final Fantasy 6,7,8,9
5. Uncharted

Then when the 3DS drops to 150 (either used or new) then i will pick it up

Wow I really liked the part when she was moving around the Vita and it felt like you were actually in the game.
At first I thought this was just another PSP and I'm not that into handheld consoles, but this is more than just a console. This baby is packed with tech. Think I will have to pick one up eventually.

i recon vita could have the same impact on gaming as the ps1 did when that first came out.. 3DS shouldnt have a chance against vita in reality, i mean the whole of psn is at your finger tips on vita.. forget orcarina of time remake.. most of the final fantasys will be downloadable at launch!

3ds is dooooomed

It's also 249 Euro, and 29,980 Yen, which both work out to be just about 338AUD, so while we have price parity with the greenback, we don't with those other currencies, and the price is reflective of that.

Still I think we pay too much for not just games, but consumer products in general.

I really feel for Australian gamers, my hat is off to you for one minute in silence...

There really should be an Australian Gamer Relief Fund, that's how bad you get nickle and dimed (or whatever currency you guys use).

Psp & PS3 both were not region locked for games...Not sure about PSP with movies, but for some weird reason PS3 movies were region locked, which was a bit of a sh!tter, but I guess a bit harder to standardize, as Sony movie studios being seperate to Sony Computers, wouldn't allow region free blu ray.
As for the Aussie price, it is ok if it is the highest spec Vita, but if we are getting jipped like with the BS $1000 PS3 price at launch (which I did buy, because I understood we were actually probably paying somewhere near PS3's manufacture price at the time, as well as the fact I was getting WiFi, Blu Ray player, b/c, blue tooth controller with inbuilt rechargable battery, etc). But for me, being over charged, as opposed to our U.S. friends rather than for the technology, is not as justifiable as for a handheld. The machine looks the sh!t, looks to be a powerhouse, & looks to launch with some sick games...But I justified the inflated PS3 price, as it was a home console, that for me would see 90-95% more usage than a handheld, & I can't help myself with new console hardware....I have bought PS2 & PS3's at midnight aussie launch, & will do the same for PS4 if Sony keep doing what they've been doing since PS1's launch...and that is make powerful consoles, with comfortable, ergonomic controllers & keep the quality & quantity of games going that have plagued there machines since there introduction into the console world.

The PS Vita looks awesome, for sure from what I've seen so far, & having owned a PSP for a few years now, can safely say that I'd prefer the PSP over the 3DS, so I'd take a Vita over the 3DS in a heartbeat, given Nintendo's stance on giving consumers old technology with an added gimmick for a high price tag to boot. Casuals are un-informed enough to pay the exorbadent prices Nintendo charges for generation old hardware, & be fooled into thinking it is awesomely priced as opposed to the other 2's hardware...& this casual consumers mentality was proven with Wii's success. Half these children & teeny boppers out there bought Wii's due to the "KOOL", "everyones got one", "me too" attitude that has been part of the schoolyard caricalum from day 1. And slowly over the past 5 years, these Wii owning casuals, or even fanboys, have realized how limited the system is, how totally useless the motion controller is, bar a handful of short lived party games, & that the only decent games the system truly has at all are endless titles with Mario fixed to the name, & to lesser quality & degrees, Donkey Kong, Metroid & Zelda.

Anyhow, I hope Vita sells like nobodies business & Nintendo finally get upstaged not just in specs this time, but in sales as well. Consumers (especially soccer mums) need to get more informed how much they are paying, & for what, as if they do decide to get there kids handheld gaming units, as a parent, I would rather them get the better bang for buck from there system, as opposed to just buy the brand machine that has been around longer, & is more widely known for it's handheld consoles, due to past popularity, so many ridiculously over the top re-iterations of there childish handhelds, as well as other pretty stupid, casual oriented reasons for buying these under powered, gimmicky units.
PS Vita deserves all the success in the world, as Nintendo has dominated in this area of the industry for long enough, & seeing Playstation dominated HEAVILY for 2 home console gens in a row with PS1 & 2, & now all the opposing fanboys, U.S. gaming & entertainment media have been attacking Sony relentlessly for more than no other reason than the "tall poppy syndrome", then Nintendo should be dealt the same hand......although this won't happen, as people have some misconstrewed idea that Nintendo can do no wrong, there poo dont stank & it's as if Nintendo, and MS, just give there machines, games, online services, online games & d/l/c away, while Sony are an evil corporation that offer gamers nothing, or next to nothing for a massive ammount of $$$'s, at the same time as spitting in our faces, calling is hoorible names, slapping our faces & tell us we should appreciate anything they can be bothered giving us...then after doing this, they pull out a little device, like the pen looking thing in Men In Black that erases all memories of the face spitting & slapping, & just leaves a memory in our head that we have to buy all Sony products & if not then, at very least, all Sony Computer Entertainment products.

Poor Aussies. You'll being paying rape price as per usual. Not sure why you sit there and take it. You can actually do something about it you know. It's called a boycott, ever hear of it? Get enough people to stop spending and cause a stir and all of a sudden prices will start falling. Funny how that works huh? ;)
