"But does this version hold up as good as the 360 version? The answer is yes and dare I say it... probably even better. It's not because the gameplay is better, it's because BioWare have bundled everything you need onto one handy Blu-ray disc."

http://www.impulsegamer.com... Compared with your 360 version review.

Xbox: Gamplay 9.9
PS3: Gamplay 9.2

Value: 4 scores added up and devided for average:
The Value of the 360 version is 10/10
The Value of the PS3 version w/ All the DLC and Comic 9.5/10

Xbox: Overall 9.9 - Score value 9.475
PS3: Overall 9.3 - Score value 9.175

Dear ImpulseGamer,
Your review frigging blows a55hole. This is why the scoring system can't work. Your score does not at all make any sence. Good score or not, it doesn't value your review. Rerate as a 9.9 like the 360 or just give it a 10/10. Or else I am reporting you as an uncredible source. Cause your scores and reviews aren't adding up.

NOTICE: This isn't about fanboyism or any such bullcrap N4G, this is about credibility and calling something better but rating it less with no evidence or reason is why gaming media is dying and why gamers are justified when calling 'biased' or 'bullcrap' on sites that do such unprofessional things.

Honestly this game deserves no less than a 10 on all platforms. It's absolutely amazing!

ChristianGamer5590d ago

Rated less for simple reasons. 1 year late.
Most expensive version at the moment
No mass effect 1 save carry over.
2010 perfect score < 2011 perfect score. By that I mean games improve every year, what was amazing in 2007 is pretty meh now. Halo Reach 91 meta < Halo 3 94 meta
But Reach > 3...everybody knows that but nobody complains about the score because 360 players have enough sense to understand that the game isn't being compared to the previous iteration but being held up to the standards of the present.
Ps3 fanboys on the other hand will complain about every Littlebigplanet 2 review that says it is better than the 1st but scores it lower.
Same for killzone 3

'Most expensive version at the moment'

I believe impulse gamers ALSO reviewed the Mass Effect 2 version when it was new so the price is the same.

'No mass effect 1 save carry over.'

Strange I swear this was a Mass Effect 2 review, how very strange. So your saying if there's no review carry over feature it loses point. Fallout 3 gets 1/10 from because Fallout 1 isn't on the console and no game save.

'2010 perfect score < 2011 perfect score.'

Name me a BETTER RPG that came out since? Nope so why is ME2 on PS3 worse?

'By that I mean games improve every year, what was amazing in 2007 is pretty meh now. Halo Reach 91 meta < Halo 3 94 meta'

Various games since have better the FPS genre, Killzone 2, Various COD's.

'But Reach > 3...everybody knows that but nobody complains about the score because 360 players have enough sense to understand that the game isn't being compared to the previous iteration but being held up to the standards of the present.'

Strange earlier you brought up a previous iteration of a game to lower a score, NOW it's unfair to do the same?

Mass Effect 2 on ps3 is not a different iteration, it is the same game on a different platform.
Yes this is a Mass Effect 2 review not a mass effect 1 review but the fact that on the other platforms you can carry over a save from the previous iteration is a negative for this version.
You could remove 1/10(by the way they didn't remove 1 point) from fallout 3 on one platform for not having this feature if the other platforms had it but since this is not the case, your point is moot.
So why is ps3 version 'worse' because it is a year late and brings nothing new of note to the table, it is the most expensive version and does not have a feature that the other platforms offer

legoman8645590d ago

@ mrv,

Not having the save carry over actually does effect the gameplay/amount of content in mass effect 2. There are several characters and the assignments that are ascociated with them that are missing on the ps3 version (eg shiala, conrad verner, gianna) as they are only available through the decisions you make in the first game. So yeah, it would be reasonable for it to lose a point as it is a missing feature when compared to the other versions.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast535d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine535d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast535d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman535d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast535d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave783d ago (Edited 783d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
