Examiner: The Total War series has been a standard of modern day RTS games. Games like Medieval and Napoleon have set the standards of what is expected in a Real Time Strategy title In that they are near to true life depictions of actual battles that have happened over time. Shogun Total War came out over 10 years ago and also made a huge impression on the RTS community. With its large scale battles that took place in Japan versus the common theme of Europe, Shogun was a breath of fresh air. Shogun 2 has some mighty big shoes to fill not only to the Shogun brand but also to the Total War name.

Whether it's warfare or politics you want, the best Medieval strategy games offer some of the most advanced gameplay out there.

Sega is giving away free copies of Total War: Shogun 2 on Steam in an effort to encourage fans to stay home. Fans will need to claim their free copy before May 1.

Total War: SHOGUN II will be free on Steam next week. The giveaway is being featured by SEGA, who are encouraging people to stay at home
