Sony has revealed today that the Dual Shock 3 is identical to the Dual Shock 2 in terms of rumble functionality. According to Sony's Kimberly Otzman, the rumble will be exactly the same in both controllers with no difference in technology. "The rumble feature on the Dual Shock 3 is the same as Dual Shock 2.", stated Otzman.
Otzman also revealed that the rumble won't have a great strain on the battery life of the controller. Sony has worked on the problem and expects the controller to last up to 15hrs with rumble enabled and 30hrs without rumble.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
This contradicts the various hands-on reports about MGS4, as well as what Kai said recently about the new controller.
I suspect this is just another over-exaggeration of what one out-of-touch PR rep said. The rep might be clueless, and when asked about rumble just said "Oh, yeah! it's the same! Sure! Same Grrreat Rumble!" , totally unaware of the addition of the positional rumble that MGS4 players were reporting.
Who knows? I'll wait until we hear something from one of the other guys.
In the meantime, you'll hear it at GAF first, so just keep an eye on this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
Developers (Criterion) and reviewers (1UP) have said differently.
This is simply a miscommunication on Sony's part, similar to how they still say the screens on the Fat PSP and the PSP slim are the same.
but i'm still gonna get one
Leave it some fanboy or fansite to say "OH NO, this is special next-gen rumble that only the cell and blu-ray can accomplish".. blahhh.. Just shake in my hands when I'm gaming and I could give a sh!t about the PR speak.
Hope this isn't true. Besides little individual rumblers wound take up less power than a huge motor based one right?
