Damn right. It is quite simply the most visually breathtaking FPS ever. Period.

I didn't think the Beta looked THAT much better than KZ2, but I'll wait for the finished game to draw a conclusion. The gameplay was more solid than pretty much every other shooter out there!

There are two things that seems to be prominent in reviews.

1. The story is not good.

2. Its the best looking game on console.

Number 2 is universal but number 1 not so. Its a very mixed bag between reviewers with regards to the story.

The sad thing about the Killzone games is that there is a TERRIFIC backstory to all of the events, but we never get to really explore it.

I think before Killzone 2 came out, I looked up the backstory on Wikipedia after playing Killzone 1 and Liberation, and I was so surprised at the level of depth and intrigue Guerrilla put into the universe.

Bioware gets a lot of love for crafting excellent worlds, and rightfully so. They know how to make a world feel complete and real. The difference is, they actually have the genre to put that world in that kind of perspective.

In an FPS, you have a very limited scope in terms of how you present a world to the viewers. At best, you can show the world in little snippets of dialog here, or visual design there (something Killzone EXCELS at is it's visual design), or, you can bog the game down with countless cutscenes, like the MGS series (which I love for it).

I can't think of many ways that Guerrilla, in a first person shooter, could convey the true depth and gravity of the Killzone universe without turning the franchise into an RPG.

Of course, when I think about it, maybe a "Mass Effect" style FPS Killzone would be really awesome. But the focus of Killzone is intense, hectic action, which it delivers in spades. Sadly, it's at the cost of a truly in depth story.

Each genre has it's drawbacks. I've yet to see many FPS titles with gripping narratives. Bioshock didn't have as epic of a story as people thought, it was just the unexpected twist at the ending that gave gamers a thrill. As far as narrative goes, you are simply wandering through Rapture, accomplishing goals. There's not much in regard to story. I LOVE Bioshock, by the way, but people like to hold that game up as some masterwork of story-telling when it's very, VERY minimal.

Call of Duty's stories are a joke, but that tends to get overlooked by reviewers in light of the much loved multi-player.

Killzone 2 had a better story than any CoD game I've played, and the MP was excellent as well, and yet the gaming media wanted to focus on the average story, considering that that was it's biggest negative point (the meltdowns over Killzone 2's controls was stupid; pure and simple. for a gaming generation that loves to lament the lack of originality in gaming, they sure do pitch a fucking bitch when a game doesn't adhere to some popular game's design philosophy; in this case, people whined because Killzone 2 didn't control like CoD. Killzone 3 controls a lot more like CoD, and now people are complaining. GG just can't win, it seems). Gears of War consistently gets passes on it's overly bromantic story as well, but Killzone always seems to be the only one called out for it's "meathead with guns" writing and plot. Just one of the many double standards plaguing the gaming media this generation.

Anyway, I just played some of the MP Beta, and it's really good. I can see myself sinking some time into it once I pick up the game. As for the story, if it's on par with Killzone 2's story, then that's fine. It was interesting enough to push the game play along, and the game play is king, especially in an FPS, where the genre is limited due to the limited perspective of first person.

So no more excuses and the reviewers are falling back to "bad story". lol

Gratz Guerilla, amazing Studio and engine, love Decima!

I was never a huge fan of Killzone, but thoroughly enjoy Horizon. Guerrilla are superb developer and easily up there with the best of the best.

Need a killzone 2 remake from the ground up.

Great studio, loved the Killzone series, I wish they would do a remake of the first three games. Horizon is a real step up and truly put Guerrilla Games on the map.

Too bad I never got a chance to play Shellshock: Nam’67 would have loved to try that game out back in the days to see what were their beginnings.

Bring back killzone (maybe in 3rd person perspective)

It would fantastic to see what they could do in Killzone after the lessons learned through Horizon.

Or heck, give us even a short linear FPS from the people who designed Cauldron THETA in the Burning Shores expansion. Even just flying into it (after gliding around and finding its opening amongst the lava and Sunwings perched around it, with other bigger machines just along the path toward it) was an incredible experience.

Forbidden West is awesome, It’s pretty damn big compared to Zero Dawn and it takes a little while to get your skills up and get the equipment you need to fully explore the game (not going to spoil it) but once you do those things and start fighting the big ass machines it really is amazing. Some cool side quests to where you hold the fate of peoples lives by your choice and the cauldrons look amazing. Lots of skills , combos, special moves and add ons for your weapons so you can approach fights many ways. Looking forward to the name game but I wonder how/if Silas will be a part of it or not ? Sad he’s gone.

Killzone games weren’t the best shooters but damn did they look purty!!!!

Killzone 2 remade with the multiplayer

20 years of mid-tier games and they are trending down.

I'm hyped for whenever Horizon 3 releases but Killzone 1 needs a remake BAD and 2 & 3 need remasters. Criminal those games are stuck on PS3.

With the way journalists have been consistently saying BotW overshadowed Horizon you’d think the gap between an entry in a new IP and a longrunning one would be bigger Even if you want to include however much the Wii U version of BotW did, both series still did impressive numbers

i really loved the atmosphere and idea of killzone. i hope they revisit it at some point because it always had so much potential.

Bring Back Killzone please or at least a KZ2 remake with MP.

Beautiful. Might try it out then. Is the emulator capable of 3D? Playing this in 3D with the Move gun controller was amazing when it came out. I was surprised they got it to run so well in 3D, too, after Resistance 3's 3D had such a low frame rate. I can still play it on my PS3, but if this runs better, I'm down.

Controversial opinion here, but this is my favorite campaign in the series.

FPS, the way it's meant to be played, with a mouse and keyboard of course 😁I have the ISO, easy to get, now to set it up and see.
