Lol this Industry is pretty much stagnant, games dont advance the way they used to. It just means Nvidia and AMD pretty soon wont be seeing much business as people wont really be needing any upgrades.

Battlefield 3 will ditch XP in favour of DX10 & DX11, I reckon minimum will be an ATI 4870 and GTX 260

@imvix

I don't agree with that, I bought an 8800gt in 2007 which is twice as powerful as a PS3/360, I bought a GTX280 in late 2008. I bought a GTX480 in mid 2010.

Despite the fact that console hardware is locked, PC games have come a long way graphically this 'generation'.

The minimum GPU for crysis 2 is an 8800gt....that is a 300% increase in the min specs since crysis 2.

If I was given a next gen GPU now, I could find quite a few games that could bring it to it's knees with high levels of AA etc.

@Substance101

No need to hope, it's been confirmed that BF3 won't support XP and possibly not 32bit OS's either.

There are always games around that push hardware. Theres obvious stuff like Crysis, but then less obvious stuff like Metro and even Lost Planet 2 which looks beserk with everything on.

It would be nice to see more games use DX11 features and i think this is the year many bigger titles arrive with it. Deus ex HR for example uses tesselation hugely, increasing character geometry by a factor of TEN.

Old hardware will still be beating the consoles comfortably, but new stuff will always turn out. Windows 7 will help this. Its uptake has been excellent. Steam survey is usually a fairly good poll of gaming centric configurations and Win 7 already makes up 45 percent of users, with another 25 percent on Vista and therefore Direct X 11 capable should the hardware be purchased. Thats 7 out of 10 gamers on steam.

Just over 60 percent have fully DX10 software and hardware enabled systems presently. Developers should most certainly be making games for DX10 only systems now, it is time.

The engine must be really good optimized because the specs are very low, even on recommended and the game looks super good.

I just wonder if Homefront is going to pull through... THQ is apparently putting up bad numbers financially... Changes might be coming... I just know THQ has been around since I was a kid... making all sorts of games back in the da

My laptop will breeze through this. I might even be able to use AA on 1920*1080 without a noticable frame rate drop.

An intro to Biomutant

Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.

Fantastic game, shame about the terrible sequel.

The multiplayer in Homefront was actually really fun.

THQ's Golden Wii, Meant for the Queen of England, has been Found

Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
