Twisted Metal vs. Motorstorm Apocalypse: Plot Elements

"There was once a time when gamers who wanted a gritty, explosive driving experience with solid storytelling could turn immediately to the Twisted Metal series. With 15 years of excellent installments (as well as a couple of duds here and there), Twisted Metal has proven its worth as one of the most recognizable series to appear on Sony consoles. Another series has been making its rounds since 2006, though. While it may be a racing franchise at its core, Motorstorm has a different look than other racers and is high on grittiness and car-crashing, two features that first put Twisted Metal on the map." -David Sanchez, GameZone

Twisted Metal > Motorstorm Apocalypse

GamerSciz5499d ago (Edited 5499d ago )

Other than involving cars/vehicles and crashing you can't compare the two. One is a racer and one is a destruction derby. A game that would be a hybrid of the two was an ok game but the MP component was horrible and no one went online. The game I am talking about is Full Auto and Full Auto 2. That had a mix of Twisted Metal with guns on vehicles but at the same time you raced.

BTW I am getting both day 1...

you obviously haven't seen footage of MSA. Oh well. youll see. :)

Well, your article has made my mind up. I'm going for Motorstorm Apocalypse. I fancy a bit of speed mixed with a storyline and getting to know the characters for a change. I'll still probably get both 'cos Twisted Metal is still Twisted Metal, but Motorstorm Apocalypse will be first on the list.

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher227d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar228d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername227d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125228d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori228d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro228d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx228d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga510d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon510d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga509d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole510d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer510d ago (Edited 510d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole510d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic509d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage510d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12509d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
