In less than a month, a gaming event that has hardly existed as more than a pipe dream from dedicated fans for the better part of a decade will finally hit store shelves, and the hellacious hurricane of hype will no doubt empty said shelves faster than one can make a tired joke about mustaches and tubular potato chips. If it wasn’t already clear I am of course speaking of Capcom’s Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. As of January 29th, 38 characters have been confirmed, split evenly between each company. Two of these characters are DLC. While there are allegedly a few more character announcements coming in the near future (#mce_temp_url#), I decided to enlist the aid of fellow RoboAwesome staffer Jessie Moore to offer a few thoughts on the current lineup in MvC 3. I’ll be waxing nostalgic about the characters on the Capcom side of the field, while Jessie, being more of a fan of Marvel(I’m more of a DC Comics guy), will comment on what he thinks about the Marvel reveals.
Artist Chris Cayco, who we’ve featured a few times before on Kotaku, grew up playing Marvel vs. Capcom (and Marvel vs. Street Fighter) games. His tribute to this, which took him over 175 hours, was to combine every single character to ever appear in Capcom’s crossover series in the one enormous image.

As common as it is today, it is hard to believe that there was a time where gaming franchises crossing over was just a pipe dream. Capcom broke down the wall, but they took the combination of some of the most unlikely of franchises and made it the norm.
Whether it was a colossal successful partnership with Marvel Comics or a collaboration with rivals Namco and SNK, the “Vs.” series brought unforgettable experiences to the fighting genre.
Marvel doesn't just have a bright future ahead of it in films, but in the gaming realm as well. Some exciting new titles are showing up on all hardware, so does that mean gamers are finally catching up with the MCU?

I heard that if the first DLC characters announced are Frank/Elektra then you should expect Juggernaut/Emma Frost as DLC also.
