Well, even Elder Scrolls is a horror game for me, so i can't really say.

I'd say action/thriller. But certainly not horror. If you want horror you are gonna have to play a game like the last Silent Hill for the Wii or Amnesia: Dark Desscent.

It is hard to feel "scared" when the character you control is a walking tank.

No it is not scary or disturbing, atmospheric yes. I find it more tense on the harder mode when ammo is more sparse and there is more chance of dying. It is a great game though.

Is it a horror game? well if it scares the crap out of me then I guess it is. Its more of a horror game than anything we've seen this gen, lets face it (with the exception of the first DS and Siren Blood Curse).

It's survival horror. If you don't agree than try to play it on zealot difficulty and than come back and talk to me.

My first playtrough is on zealot difficulty and man, the game is very scary and hard. I'm scared to walk into the next room all the time. I barley have any ammo or healt left most of the time. It's a great survival horror game.

These people that say Dead Space didnt make them jump at one point or another are full of shit and are too macho to admit it. Play it at night, turn off the lights and get submerged. I was leaping outta my seat!

It's as much a horror game as that question is stupid and attention seeking. So yes, very much so.

Its a really good game though its not scary at all. Neither is any game. Or movie for that matter.

I believe it feels like a survival/action horror. Because even during the action sequences, things get tense. In my opinion, DS2 shows how a game can be full full of action and yet retain that survival horror feel. Take notes capcom!

I'd say it's as much a horror game as Resident Evil. I've found myself in several situations where I've been out of ammo and have had to scavenge what I could while being chased by freaks, which is scary. Not all of the scares are well earned (monster closets suck) but I definitely find myself up against the wall a lot.

Nothing beats Amnesia: Dark Decent as of yet for me!!

Scary was playing the resi remake.

Getting close-lined by a crimson head. Or walking down a corridor (that you've walked down many a time prior to now) only for the camera angle to switch, and be greeted by a Hunter busting thru the door, bailing down at ya.

If you're not playing it in a dark room with surround sound don't say how unscary anything like dead space or a horror movie was. There is nothing worse than someone saying a game or movie isn't scary when they play it in the light of day with the sun shining in through the windows and using tv sound.

Horror is all about immersion. Without the right ambience of course you are not going to be scared. I remember loaning my in-laws a horror moive once and them saying we didn't find it scary at all. Then they went on to say it was a waste of a sunny afternoon. I could've bitch slapped them literally. I made my father in law a bet. Next horror movie that comes out you watch in my theater in the basement after midnight with all the lights out. I bet most people on this site would not even be able to sit through most horror movies under those conditions.

Ambient sound is what makes DS2 get you jumping. I played DS2 in my basement with all the lights off and sound cranked. The hair on my arms were tingling more than a few times during that game. I am playing it through a second time and now it is no where near as scary but it had me on the edge of my seat a few times and made me literally jump a couple.

And today I was reading that apparently they were going to do a DS2 Remake, but weren't happy enough with the first game's remake to continue. I was really hoping to see them actually make a new game to finish off the story of the franchise.

So reading the article it doesn’t seem to rule out the possibility of a Dead Space 2 remake at some point. It’s saying that the rumour that it was already in development and was shelved because of poor sales is incorrect. EA Motive immediately started working on something else. So I read that as them actually confirming that it’s not entirely off the table.
