BioWare details Mass Effect 2 patch for PS3 save bug

BioWare has released the first details of an upcoming patch designed to combat save bugs and game freezes experienced by some Mass Effect 2 PS3 players.

"First, we are sorry some of you have had problems playing Mass Effect 2 on the Playstation 3 and want to thank you all for providing feedback on our forums on both the freezing and resulting save game issue that some of you have experienced," community chief Chris Priestly said.

Mass Effect for NGP. if MGS4, Uncharted, Killzone, LBP, and Yakuza 4 can get on their, why not a Mass Effect game.

SuperStrokey11235596d ago

LOL i would love a mass effect game too. Not sure if it would really lend itself to on the go gaming though. It might though who knows. All depends on how they do it.

jonboi245596d ago

Of course it would. How long are actual missions? Some missions are quite short. Exploring systems and scanning planets are good little short diversions. Plus it aout-saves at certain points in missions and it should allow for play-stop-go-play-go moments.

I agree, i forgot abot that stuff. I was just thinking about some of the longer drawn out stuff. You make me want it more now lol.

Bioware may fix the saving problem but they can't really fix the freezing problems that well cause it all about the processor and game performances this been a problem since Fallout 3 and Dragon Age freezing up on PS3.

RevXM5596d ago

Really?

Well they can get rid of that freezing. fallout 3 has nothing to do with Bioware btw.
and Bethesda sucks at tech... obiously.

I wish they had some details for other fixes as well.
But they are working with it atleast and hopefully the game will become a lot more playable soon.
If not Im going to get my money back.

"There is a very simple work around to ensure the freezing and corruption issues are minimized. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue."

This sounds more like a memory corruption issue i.e. memory leak, incorrect handing of memory boundary cases or something similar.

Well Mass Effect 1 & 2 were even freezing on the 360. So yea that isn't just a PS3 issue.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast531d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine531d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast531d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman531d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast531d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave779d ago (Edited 779d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
