NGP or 3DS?

I'm just stoked for the touchscreen & dual analog controls of the NGP. I've been waiting for the PSP to get dual analog sticks ever since I owned the first-gen PSP. It's good that Sony listened to their customer base in regards to the most-asked for change to the PSP's hardware.

If Sony prices this competitively enough, we'll have something truly epic on (and in) our hands. I can't wait to play games like Fallout: New Vegas on a portable system. Hopefully they will ensure that the battery life won't completely suck.

Yeah, like I said, if I have to buy just once hand held (and let's face it, that's pretty much guaranteed for someone such as myself), I'd hands-down give the NGP the vote with my wallet.

Nintendo handhelds produce more than just Mario and zelda, if this NGP has more variety in games than the psp then it might be worth buying.

I'll get both, but I care more for the NGP. I'm a slight techie, and personally I want to see what all NGP/PS3 integration they do with these systems.

actually, it'd based on what you prefer. If you prefer simple yet addicting games then 3DS but if you prefer hardcore then NGP

I've seen enough games for 3DS that will cater to my "hardcore" needs, namely Kid Icarus: Uprising, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Super Street Fighter IV, Mario Kart 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D etc...

But that's the thing, the NGP will cater for both. There will be smaller games as well as big epics.
NGP technologically speaking is the far superior machine. 3DS is just a DS with better graphics and 3D. It's really not that much of an improvement really.
Of course, when it's all said and done, it'll come down to the software line up.

I would buy Nintendo over Sonys. Sony has the better tech, but games I play in the living room aren't what I want to play on a handheld. Nintendo do know how to make great portable games and have proven that generation after generation.

No question NGP for me, I just hope it's really affordable like they say, but it's hard to see this thing priced at even $300. It's a small PS3, and that thing started at $600. Plus they need to have a monster lineup of launch games. PS3 games like Uncharted won't do it for me. Of course I'm sure there will be more game announcements soon.

Why did it started at such price again? partly cus of the bluray tech at the time, so stop connecting both which sincerely isn't the case here, if sony sell this thing any expensive than the 3DS, then they are going for the gain...not for the loss they pulled by selling the ps3 underpriced.

There are coming phones as powerful if not eve more than this, next months to come, and I doubt sony are that stupid to commit the same error twice, I expect this thing around 300 to 400.

no he has a valid point, the psp isn't cheap just look at it, high quality build OLED screen etc. etc. HOWEVER Sony will take the profit loss and sell it at a low price, they learned how bad a high price will hurt especially in this economy. SOny can suffer the hardware profit loss, theyll make up for it with software sales. Don't forget the PS Suit is also out meaning Sony is gunna make bucks off of sales to Android users.

But I have the NDS lite, First DS and the PSP so I probably get both.

Nothing against nintendo just not my taste. NPG for me. 3ds maybe for my kids I don't know though with the whole eye thing. They already wear glasses.

I usually buy both Nintendo and Sony handhelds as both have really good games (DS and PSP).

BUT for this handheld generation I will probably just buy NGP. 3DS not being region free was kinda deal breaker for me. But if 3DS manages to provide enough good PAL region games, I just might buy it when the price drops to around 100€.

I got plenty of games that I have ordered from US for Psp, Ds and Ps3. So far I have not bough many from Japan (1 or 2), but considering the fact that I am trying to learn the language that might change in near future.

When you have a Quad Core CPU, a Quad Core GPU, built in 3G, Dual Analog sticks, Touch pads, 5.0 inch OLED display, and a bunch a Sony exclusives such as Killzone, Uncharted, LBP, and MGS4 vs. a Nintendo DS with a 3D screen with a 3 degree viewing angle and nintendo exclusives such as Mario and Metriod and Pokemon.

Simple Jack is smart enough to know the PSP NGP is best.

PSP NGP is so powerful it's the official handheld of Chuck Norris.

Actually some OLED screen have high refresh rates. Whether or not the PSP NGP contains one remains to be seen but if it does then the OLED screen on the PSP NGP will be 3D capable if you were able to sync shutter glasses to them. Knowing Sony's track record of "future proof" I say its likely.

But I wouldn't mind wearing those glasses briefly to watch video content in 3D. Don't forget it plays movies too and Sony has alot of partners in the movie industry. Can anyone say downloadable 3D movies?

which is why im guessing sony didnt put 3D in it, the tech is still developing for glass free they have prototypes but they arent happy with the viewing angles.

One year after launch,Sony will give NGP a firmware update to enable 3D.

And seriosuly, Nintendo will lose this timeCoD with online play on the NGP is going sell a lot of units.

Tempted by both but the thing with the 3DS is the only thing I want is MGS.

the psp had the same exclusives minus uncharted and nintendo still has all its exclusives plus all the support it will get having about a year lead and being way cheaper.

I understand hype is high now but we litterally have no details on this device, whether its region free or not, the software, the price,ect

I see what your saying, its just that with the announced specs this totally changes the portable market all together. Though Nintendo has a good track record but they are still beatable. Times change. Though we dont have any games im sure Sony will be porting some of their top sellers over to the PSP NGP which is an plus. If you just take a long look and think about all the technical power they have put into this device, you will realize what we have is something incredible. This damn thing puts home consoles and any other portable device to shame.

One thing I do hate is that it wont be coming out for almost a year. I was hoping for this around July-August for my birthday present. :-/

I've never really been a huge handheld person. I bought a PSP last year when i travelled overseas, but only played a few games on it, and once I got home and wasn't travelling I didn't touch it.

NGP looks tempting though. 3DS on the other hand, no chance for me. Just not my bag.

Considering the PSP2 won't be out until the holiday season, I'll probably be getting both. The Nintendo DS has so many great games, it'd be a shame not to play what comes out for the 3DS. The PSP2 is looking like it's going to be something you cannot pass up. Multiplayer anywhere is a great option. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the first portable MMO come out for it.

I was gonna get both but now am thinking of just getting psp 2 it looks amazing and for the people that are thinking why Sony has not gone 3d am sure they have a very good reason look at 3ds in 3d when playing a game and you move few inch when playing the 3d game the 3d effect goes and the whole point of me buying the 3ds was to play in 3d plus few other games but for it's price in the uk it's crazy and it does not even come close to psp 2 price might just be around £300 to £350

it will most likely be between $299.99-$399.99 (if not more) people are saying it will be same price as PS3 or cheaper, but this is like a PS3 handheld, it's going to be more expensive... I wouldn't be surprised to see PSP2 games @ $50-60

lol sony stole touch screen and a gyro and now der no longer gimics to the sony fanboys intresting and um psp2 cant do more then the 3ds thet basicly do the same o.0 lets be honest the touch thing on the back is useless i dont even no why its thair maybe just to put the price up lol so that really aint a game changer. and i dotn understand why sony has to copy everything lol touch screens and gyros kinda sad now the 3g internet is ware is see its big selling point im tottaly up for 3g. oh and nintendo stated that it will be able to be used as a camcored :) and make 3d movies which is cool but im just all about the games and psp2 or mini ps3 so i call it lol doesent have not a singal new game comeing out i mean it even has monster hunter 3rd which is weird cus its already on the psp.....

I will be getting both because I love portable gaming systems as I do with stationary consoles, have like 8 of them in my collection :)

Both are impressive, but if I can say my winner is NGP for now because of great hardcoretitles, PS3 like graphics and dual sticks, for me with dual sticks on a handheld is a revolution!!! Always wanted this for my PSP 3004 model -_-

I've already preordered the 3DS and I'm probably going to buy 15 games for it within the year. For the PSP2, I am sure they will have a good two years of releasing great games, but if Sony can't control the piracy, then it's going to be PSP1 all over again with only a three good titles to get for an entire year. Releasing a lot of hardcore games is great but hardcore games are a major target of piracy. So I am going to wait at least 3 to 4 years to see if Sony can control the piracy and continue to give strong support to the PSP2. I brought the PSP back in 2008 and I only brought 8 games for it while I am buying an assload of games for the PS3, DS, 360, and Wii. So I regret buying the PSP.

Also it's funny when I see comments like "NGP - Nintendo Gets Pwned". Pathetic, I remember back in 2004, everybody was saying "Sony's new handheld will have Nintendo quaking in their boots" with a picture of Luigi screaming in terror from Luigi's Mansion. Well I didn't hear too many "PSP>DS" comments after the first year of both consoles being out. Same thing is going to happen with the 3DS and PSP2.

Well I just got to wait and see.
