@SJPFTW I agree, anyone can see Crysis 2 looks better, not saying this is on a top rig with all the mods but based on these screens alone Crysis 2 looks better, just be glad that they are even comparable, this is 5 year old tec afterall.

toaster5599d ago (Edited 5599d ago )

Pandamobile has some screens you should look at. Now these are real screenshots from the user in 1080p.

http://forums.n4g.com/fb.as...

He also has a video comparing CryEngine2 on PC vs Cryengine3 on consoles.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

MASSIVE difference. Cryengine on console pales in comparison to the PC but that should be a no brainer. Only time will tell how CE2 vs CE3 will look on PC.

ABizzel15599d ago

First off the Crysis 1 images, don't even look max. However, Crysis 2 does look good in those images.

@toaster

Thank you for those images and videos. My whole thing was how Crysis 2 compares to Crysis 1. On consoles of course it's going to be compared to Killzone because Killzone is the best looking game in it's genre on consoles.

That being said Crysis 2 does look good on consoles. It has it's problems, but if I'm not mistaken they pushed the release date back to fall 2011, which gives them plenty of time to polish up the graphics, and fix the glitches.

s for the video the first 30 seconds, shows it all. The PC version of Crysis blows the console versions out of the water. The console versions look good, but the PC version is clearly better. But at the end of the day you can't compare a high end PC to a console, because a console is fixed hardware, while a PC can be continuously modded and upgraded for better performance. SO PC fanboys and Xbox fanboys claiming to be PC fanyboys, stop comparing PC to consoles in a competitive manner. And consoles fanboys stop comparing console games to PC, because when the PC is at it's best it'll always win.

imvix5599d ago (Edited 5599d ago )

@abizzel

We really need to get out of 2006. No ones comparing a high end pc to console. Today to run crysis in max settings @ 1080p a 500usd rig will be more then enough. Tech actually moves on, high end rigs today are needed for multimonitor gaming(aka resolutions 6-10 times higher then the current console hd standard. I personally game at 5760*1080) that's the kind of res high end is needed for. 1080p is now low end for pc.

Worst screenshot comparison i have seen. Terrible quality screenshots, huge compression and nasty pixellated sources. They have managed to make good looking games look fuu.uu..ugly.

This is what Crysis really looks like...

Daz5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

They both look great but pc will always be better then console thats the truth, they update pc with new stuff every 6 months.
But you got to give to crytek for macking crysis look really good on a 5 year old harware.
Can not wait to try the final game:)

Happy gaming.

cakeisalie5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

Yes PC gets an update every 6 months lol we know. but even if you equipped a pc with a 3-4 year old gpu like 8800gtx it would be running crysis in high settings 1080p. 1080p is something consoles are yet to manage for any first person shooter.

Its actually gotten to a point where newer powerful gpus now are only needed if people want to be playing on multiple screens. Otherwise 2-3 gen old gpus handle most games just fine at 1080p.

Edit: 2-3 gen old gpus like GTX 260, 4870(which werent even high end when they launched) are enough to play 95% games today in 1080p. Only game that would give tough time to these gpus would have to be metro 2033 everything else is a walk in the park.

Daz5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

Well on settings very high with no aa you get abut 20 fps which is good

Well my pc decent for now :P But crysis 2 does look good on a conssole which is 2 years older then the origanal crysis which came out in 2007

cakeisalie5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

Crysis 2 on console is running at 720p (which reduces alot of the burden). Next it hardly has any AA. Also it looks like its running on med settings(crysis 1).

Given that console hardware is about 5 years old, i think a 5yr old pc should be running crysis 2 in simular settings.

Legacy_Killa5600d ago

5 year old hardware? You talking about the systems, because if so crysis 2 doesn't even look that great. The way they were hypeing up the game to have the best graphics for a console game ever lolz.

Daz5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

Well we have different opinions and i think its looks very good :P Just have to wait and see and play the final game.

SJPFTW5600d ago

so can the PC fanboys stop bitching now?

Roozium5599d ago

No because we have legitimate reasons compared to PS3 fanboys screaming "KILLZONE 3 SHIIIIIITS ON THIS GAAAAAME!" "KILLZONE 3 BEST GAME 2011!" etc.

Playing it right now looks amazing! :D
so much fun, i hope they make a vr mod for crysis 2 / 3 too!

DivineHand125486d ago

This is amazing. This is the direction VR should go in to boost adoption. Since I have beaten every Crysis except 1, this is now a good excuse to correct that problem.

Crytek Wanted Crysis To Be "Future-Proof"

According to Crytek CEO Cervat Yerli, "I want[ed] to make sure Crysis does not age, that [it] is future proofed, meaning that if I played it three years from now, it should look better than today." Yerli and the team designed Crysis' highest graphical settings for the PC hardware of 2010 and beyond.

While Crytek has officially announced Crysis 4 is in development, nothing new has surfaced. For now, gamers' only way to scratch that itch is to play the Crysis Remastered Trilogy available on PC and consoles.

OG 2007 Crysis (not the remastered weirdo), is & will forever be a legend amongst the PC community.

PrinceOfAnger491d ago

This video will always be impressive to me, even for years to come. Some things here are better than games we have today, OG crysis is the best version!

RaidenBlack491d ago

OG Crysis physics, man ... amazing! Thanks for the reminder!

PrinceOfAnger490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

Looks really nice with VR mod too

FinalFantasyFanatic490d ago

I'm still shocked that it looks as good as it does today, puts some modern games to shame.

Profchaos490d ago

I thought the remaster was fine tbh some rough edges at launch but after some patches it's decent

isarai491d ago

I mean the lighting and physics still hold up extremely well. I still revisit it from time to time.

RedDeadLB490d ago

That CPU performance thing is preventing it.

isarai490d ago

Yeah unfortunately Crystek's decision to bet on the linear progression of clock speed in CPUs was derailed by the unforseen shift towards multicore CPUs. It just wasn't built with that in mind because that wasn't even in the conversation at the moment

DivineHand125490d ago

I remember when I tried to play Crysis with my Intel Pentium Dual core E2200 @2.2GHz , 4GB ram and GeForce 9400gt. I was a kid back then and that was the best I could do. I would get about 15 to 20 fps. When I over clocked the CPU to 2.8GHz I would get about 40fps. The experience wasn't good at all and it was the only PC game I could not run back then unless and put the settings on low. At that point the game went from cutting edge graphics to PS2 graphics. To this day I haven't completed the OG Crysis. I was able to complete Crysis 2 and 3 after building a new PC when I got my first job.

HyperMoused490d ago

Never played it, worth a try you think?

Profchaos490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

Worth a try just because it's the only game that lets you pick up a turtle on the beach and throw it at enemy soldiers that should have been a back of the box feature.

But nah seriously unless you're nostalgic for it I'm not sure if it will hold up
