I'm on Ch 8 and I actually do find it less scary, but that's because I prepared for it.

I wasn't even scared in Dead Space 1. (Great game though, loved it; just no fear factor for me.)

So it's disappointing to hear it's even less scary now.

I guess I'm just totally desensitised. (<Yes, that's British English spelling, deal with it.)

Interesting then that the reviews seem to say the Dead Space 2 is as scary, if not scarier than the first game?

I don't mind. A lot of the time I'd find myself only playing in short bursts or even too scared to play the first game. Though I did find the first 4 chapters to be much scarier than the rest of the game...

A WARNING TO ALL: There are several trolls on YouTube who are spoiling the ending to the game. Seeing as how history often repeats itself, spoiler trolls will inevitably make their way here. It's probably in your best interest to avoid the comment areas until you've completed single player.

Dead Space 2 is more faster because was "necessary" to put the online mode.
But if you make it faster and more action instead of survival horror then it is obvious it gets less scary.

Less scary? hell I had to clean my room up for a week after playing the demo.

the gameplay didn't scare me in deadspace it was the sound. play dead space with no sound on i feel relaxed. The first game wasn't really scary but it did make you feel like you had to be alert all the time.

dead space was never scary to me just was full of action/gore :)

thats sad because the first deadspace wasnt scary at all, i started game on hard and it was WAY to easy, how can a game be scary if its easy?? barley died and the bosses were AWFUL.

and DS2 seems fun since the melee actually works but still i know it wont be scary cuz the demo isnt scary and now we have this "intentionally less scary"

people are scared because they are supposed to be afraid? wtf? makes no sense, its a game first off lol, i dont see anyone scared when they get sniped in cod so how the F is a monster without weapons supposed to do? haha retarded

Never got scared with the first, it was more predictable then scary. Dead Space 2 has a lot more jump moments though with the sound design and the Stalker enemies are a blast to fight against. The tension feels greater during these parts and better over the first game.

All it says is it changes the method of scare tactics. DS1 was predictable because you knew every time there was a corridor there would be an enemy, in DS2 that is not the case. It makes people not always be on their toes and than BAAAMM scare em when they least expect it.

I assumed so. They seem to have added more general "sci-fi" stuff and brought the "horror" down a bit...probably because the first game wasn't scary. Either that or they are saying it was intentional because nobody thinks the second one is scary.

And today I was reading that apparently they were going to do a DS2 Remake, but weren't happy enough with the first game's remake to continue. I was really hoping to see them actually make a new game to finish off the story of the franchise.

So reading the article it doesn’t seem to rule out the possibility of a Dead Space 2 remake at some point. It’s saying that the rumour that it was already in development and was shelved because of poor sales is incorrect. EA Motive immediately started working on something else. So I read that as them actually confirming that it’s not entirely off the table.
