When we see COD players are bored with black ops, maybe Crysis or KZ3 can be big surprises this year for gamers.
As a multiplatform title Crysis 2 has a great opportunity to make the difference against Black Ops.

Pixelated_Army5615d ago

Seriously though MW2 had me playing non-stop for well over a year but with BlOps... I reached that point last week. It's only been three and half months! I sold my copy and haven't regretted it one bit.

Corepred45615d ago

I loved mw2! I never ran into bad hackers or game breaking glitches so it was a very fun game for me. Black ops on the other hand, i was scared to buy. so i played it at my cousins and am glad i didn't. It has the same feel as W@W and i didn't like that game either. What i'm waiting for is another fantastic game that will have the same effect cod4 or halo had on the multiplayer.

MintBerryCrunch5615d ago

question:

whats the difference between the two factions?...they both look the same...SP has an alien invasion as far as i know, why no MP aliens??

kudakadere5615d ago

For me i feel the same way , one of the reasons being that i miss the Mw2 call outs "ENEMY AC130 ABOVE , WE ARE DONE" and the Op-for's tactical nukes incoming call too and all the maps were legendary compared to Blackops "intervention no scopes i once hated them but i learnt to love them ,you can't do that with Black ops.

I just read that the MP in Crysis 2 is only 6v6 players. I surely hope that is only for the consoles and the PC has higher player counts. 12 player games can barely be called MP (it gets really boring killing and being killed by the same people over and over). And I thought Black Ops was a joke with only 18 players. Looking forward to a real MP experience with a game like BF3. That game should be epic!

LOLOLFFSA5615d ago

Even that I do not care shit about how many players there can be in a online game on pc I do think that there can be more. It's just pure logic since it is a PC. On consoles, I think it could be a little more but since the MP maps from what I heard are small, I think 6 vs. 6 is good.
Can't wait <3 Video looks way too awesome..

MidnytRain5615d ago

Developers could take a lesson from Insomniac. Throwing in more players will not somehow make the game better. Balance is extremely important in multiplayer shooters in order to create a satisfying experience. Look at UC2; the matches in that game have only ten players. But it's mostly balanced and very rewarding. I personally like small player count. It makes the matches more personal and it is less likely that random deaths from across the map will happen.

hoops5615d ago

More does not equate being better ESPECIALLY for multi-player FPS games.
How many games have turned into frag fests left and right because of too many players? Too many I might add.

HolyOrangeCows5615d ago

Glad to see that the screen tearing has been reduced, but it's definitely still there.

lugia 40005615d ago (Edited 5615d ago )

The graphics on the 360 look... good?
Can´t see it too much (not really HD)

thor5615d ago

TBH I think it's going to look like a standard console game. It's no Killzone 3 or Uncharted 3. A city environment with static, flat buildings for a backdrop is naturally going to be a lot less demanding than the environments we saw in the original Crysis.

Schism205615d ago

how about you stop being a fanboy, and play the game first before you make any judgements

HellzAssassin5615d ago

On consoles, I agree with you. Crysis 2 won't be as graphically powerful as KZ3 or Uncharted 3, but the PC version of Crysis 2 will surely surpass both games. Not by ALOT but it will be better in terms of graphics./

Regarding the multiplayer of Crysis. I never really liked Crysis' multiplayer. Both Crysis and Crysis Wars were not good. But I did thoroughly enjoy the campaigns for both and played them 3-4 times :D. I hope Crysis 2 changes my opinion.

Shackdaddy8365615d ago

Wow you people are annoying. Do you HAVE to come into every article about Crysis 2 and say that?

You've barely even seen Uncharted 3...

ABizzel15615d ago (Edited 5615d ago )

I think it looks good. I think it suffers from lack of art style which is why I prefer Killzone 3 graphics over this.

This is only one map and one video, but if you look at Killzone 3 there's a ton of other stuff happening, and in Crysis it's pretty bare.

I think Crysis 2 will be a good game, but I'm just looking forward to Killzone 3 more.

@At everyone else

People compare the two, because they're the best. That's what happens when you hold the crown. PC games will look better than consoles games for the most part, because there's no set amount of tech inside them. So excluding them, when it comes to consoles it's nice to see who the graphics kings will be for the year.

2006- Gears of War
2007- Uncharted Drake's Fortune
2008- MGS4/Gears of War 2/(Uncharted Drake's Fortune was still #1)
2009- Killzone 2/Uncharted 2/
2010- God of War 3/GT5 at it's best/(Uncharted 2 & Killzone 2)
2011- There are a bunch of contenders. Killzone 3, Crysis 2, Rage, Uncharted 3, The Last Guardian, and you can add whatever else you think should be on here.

It's not the be all of things to discuss in games, but it's nice to recognize people who make these games look the way they do, if it wasn't then there would be a GOTY award for best graphics.

Ryudo5615d ago

@HellzAssassin

What on earth are you smoking...

"On consoles, I agree with you. Crysis 2 won't be as graphically powerful as KZ3 or Uncharted 3, but the PC version of Crysis 2 will surely surpass both games. Not by ALOT but it will be better in terms of graphics."

Am sorry I have no time to sit here and pretend the PS3 is nearly as powerful as a modern gaming PC it's simply not.

Crysis 2 on the PC will piss on both KZ3 and Uncharted 3 graphically and am sorry but that's just FACT.

LunaticBrandon5615d ago (Edited 5615d ago )

"Not by ALOT"

That's funny. Get back to me when Sony delivers on the promise of 1080p 60fps.

Ryudo5615d ago

The PC version of Crysis 2 will surely surpass Pong and Pac Man. Not by ALOT but it will be better in terms of graphics.

VictoriousB135615d ago

Are you kidding? Some of the gameplay videos running on consoles are truly stunning and can easily rival that of Killzone 3.

StoneyYoshi5615d ago

@shackdaddy836

i have actually seen uncharted 3 more than crysis, and personally it looks much nicer than crysis 2 on the console. it deffinitely will look alot more gorgeous on the pc. i just have a feeling that crytek could have made it look much nicer on the ps3 than it does on the 360, if they actually tapped into the ps3's power, but of course they probably didnt. like every multiplatform game.

Heartnet5614d ago

Hmm yeh Graphics look good but not so far as to congratulate em on it xD

Looks like a standard CoD meets Halo FPS tbh.. halo since takes long to kill and invisibility and shiz and CoD since weapons might as well be the same xD

Looks like a ton of fun. I cant wait to play on PC!

The guy playing has to learn that if you shoot while in cloak your energy completely drains. It would have saved his life at 00:57.

PS. IDK what people are talking about with the sound thing. It sounds fine to me...

Agent-865615d ago (Edited 5615d ago )

I, too, was going to get this game for PC, but I just read that it only has 6v6 players in MP and now I'm really questioning if I should get it. 12 players in a modern shooter? And I thought Black Ops was a joke at 18 players.

http://www.thatvideogameblo...

Shackdaddy8365615d ago

Its pretty obvious that PC will have mod tools though because of their love for the mod community(devs comment on the mod forums all the time). So give it a month after release and there will be 64 players with a couple of maps to go with it.

Agent-865615d ago

@Shackdaddy836, I hope you are right because I was looking forward to this game. My true salvation, though, will be BF3 because I have a good feeling that the game is going to be truly epic. Hopefully, it'll be a BFBC2/BF2 combo: BF2 sized maps with 64 players, more classes and plenty of vehicles (including jets) plus BFBC2 style destruction.

LiLTich925615d ago

near enough a whole mag to kill someone :O !

JohnApocalypse5615d ago

Are you talking the part at 0:26? the guy was obviously spraying

Shackdaddy8365615d ago (Edited 5615d ago )

I think thats just when they have the armor ability on. Otherwise its like 4 shots.

I'm still learning how to look for the differences. At first I was focusing on shadows for some reason but I don't think that changes much, is it reflections that change?

rashada072544d ago (Edited 2544d ago )

It is supposed to be simulating how light actually works- so yes if light is reflecting off a surface accurately it should show reflection or an effect that matches what you are looking at in the environment. Next time you play a game look at a puddle of water there may be just a "baked" in texture that if you aren't paying attention seems like it is reflecting but it isn't. I would say though if the light is reflecting more accurately I would think that would give more accurate shadows as well.
I am still not 100% sold on it- it looks okay but I can't get over the hardware price jump for better reflections..

Taz X142544d ago

While games won't look immensely better, it opens up more possibilities overall. Understandably, the price jump is huge. But, that can be said for being at the forefront for any new technology. I'm currently using a 2080ti and while I've played a few games that enable it, the gpu also plays everything else incredibly well so it's not like you're buying this tech for ONLY that option. Enthusiasts will pay top dollar to check out the newest things, but this will eventually become an everyday consumer and by then they'll have optimized and become a lot cheaper.

warriorcase2543d ago

Ray/path tracing can be used how the developer wants it to be. Tracing can be used to calculate shadows/lighting, reflection and even audio, where audio waves are calculated on the bounce off material types to simulate enviroment and echos accuratly.

Should also keep in mind that this ray/path tracing system is different and less accurate option from Nvidias RTX branded type. McFly's is a reshade that layers over the top of the game and therefor the quality will vary drastically. For example you can see nice reflection in the Star Wars demo here but it then introduces colour clipping with the light saber. On a video of GTA 5 for example it was incorrectly projecting a reflection of a red car onto the road which caused a very faint red glow on the ground around the car.

If you want to see a good example of a game developed with ray tracing reflection and lighting in mind then you could look up the youtube video of "Control - Exclusive E3 RTX GAMEPLAY Trailer".

DigitallyAfflicted2544d ago

It supposed to add more realistic light Not actually more light effects and explosions

traumadisaster2544d ago

I hate to say it but I’m fine with fake lights, shadows, reflections. I just kind of like the effect, it’s also great it saves resources for other things.

I’ve been checking out some original Xbox games on x360/x1x and the engine has fake light streaming in through a stained glass window, and I love it even though I know it’s not real time lighting. Heck it even shifts as I move about.

I’ve about convinced my self rt and hdr just doesn’t work for me. Before hdr I would even complain damn why are the headlights killing me they are so bright.

I notice most frame rate, then jaggies, then resolution; with the last two interchangeable depending.

Other day watched an enthusiast rave over 4k and the poor guy was in 1080p. I played the same game the night before and thought wow this is clean, I wonder if it’s 4k, but knew differently and I thought wow even resolution is not always important. The next day he apologized and was surprised he could be fooled.

RaidenBlack2543d ago

EA should have released the Crysis Trilogy Remaster for this gen.

FGHFGHFGH2538d ago

How come the lightsabers don't give off any light? Even in the EA star wars game the guy uses it to light up a dark cave. I guess if it is using frostbite it will support rtx cards.
