I posted in the submission that failed after watching all thirty minutes so I'll post it here.

I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this comment but that wasn't very impressive at all. The game itself was very linear and the boss fight was pretty boring. Do we really need another scripted sequence where we continuously shoot painfully obvious weak points on some giant monstrosity that goes down way too easily?

renegade5588d ago

Looks great to me, view makes it boring you have play it yourself.

SasanovaS19875588d ago

compare the atmosphere and action to other shooters, and ul see ur playing next gen with kz3

BakedGoods5588d ago

Play Killzone 2/3 on Elite and tell me that.

Panthers5588d ago

Anyone that complains about games being to easy or short need to play the game on their FIRST run on the hardest difficulty. The game will take much longer and be a lot more engaging. That is what I always do. And it makes gaming in general a lot more fun.

blackburn55588d ago

Your just another gamer ready to gripe and whine and expect disappointment before you actually have played the whole game. All shooters are linear no matter how many gimmicks you put in it so pointing out that KZ3 is linear is not a negative point. So how about playing the game THEN jump online to say how it disappoints you and not vice versa

SJPFTW5588d ago

crysis and far cry 2 were not linear.

Nadasico5588d ago

SJPFTW you mean Benchmark test and Far Drive 2?

SuicideShaun5588d ago

Nadisco crysis may not have been an amazing game without the graphics. But it still had a lot more creativity then you get with most console games.

Nadasico5588d ago Show
PS360PCROCKS5588d ago

lol far drive 2! Funny cause it's true

Kingscorpion19815588d ago

Boring Call of Duty is Linear too..

Longsama5588d ago

Crysis was linear but u could approach the situations in so many different ways that it didn't feel like it. I love the game personally cuz the nanosuit and incredibly large maps gave me a sense of tactical freedom that actually made a difference on how the game plays.....as far as creativity how many fps's can u think of where u can punch ppl through buildings or Punch a jeep into submission or grab a soldier toss him in the air and shoot him with shotgun...and that's just strength mode

DeathMetal14745588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

But your dealing with dumb ass PS3 Fantards, Who think cause a game is exclusive to PS3 that it automaticaly is better than everything else. Nadisco is a moron, period. Crysis has way more going on than killzone. I just don't see how you can say Crysis is boring but KZ isn't, the whole game is walk through tiny corridor hide behind box. Killzone relies on it's graphics way more than crysis, since the gameplay is super linear and generic. Not to mention you can't blow up the environments and have to play the game one way. But that's next Gen to these people. LOL

All shooters are linear. Even Halflife and Halo.
They just had wider corridors. And when they're not, like Turok 2 you can get massive amounts of backtraking. I'd rather they keep the action flowing at a decent pace. It is a shooter after all, not a mystery adventure.

Anyway, I found in Killzone 2 even though you were always trying to get to one spot, there were often 2 or even 3 ways to get there, and depending on the resistance met each way had varying success. Not hugely detouring off, but a good example would be you could go through a warehouse, around it or over the roof. These breaking paths happened quite often.

FatOldMan. I stand corrected.
I should have said, 98% of shooters are linear and its never been a problem before.
Probably nearly all URBAN shooters are linear.
And you're right, nothing wrong with just being a great game.
No other shooter ever made me feel like I was right in the action like Killzone, probably since I first stormed that beach in Medal of Honour.
I hate this mentality that every AAA PS3 game has to revolutionise gaming to be good.

DoomeDx5588d ago

"All shooters are linear. Even Halflife and Halo."

EVEN halo?
Dont use Half life (A masterpiece) and Halo (Overrated game) in the same line

TKCMuzzer5588d ago

your right, I don't want every FPS to revolutionize, I just want it to be good at what it does.
If you people want to moan, give Activision a bell , they release the same game every year and know one seems to notice.

Ducky5588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

All shooters aren't linear; most are.
Crysis and Stalker are two examples I can think of.

That being said, Brandon's criticism was that the video didn't show anything innovative. Hence why the rhetoric 'Do we really need another...'.
Saying that all other shooters are linear too doesn't really answer his concern.

Anyways, Killzone3 seems to be more about giving a polished and cinematic experience rather than an innovative one. Nothing wrong with that. I love Half-Life, and that game is linear as hell. The trick is hiding the linearity, which Killzone does pretty well with it's backdrops.

Hopefully there's more bosses and they're more challenging. I haven't had an enjoyable boss fight outside of MGS and ShadowOfTheColossus... and haven't had a challenging boss fight since Twisted Metal Black. Either I've been playing crappy games or they just don't make bosses like they used to. =/

Kingscorpion19815588d ago

Crysis story was still boring though.

DeathMetal14745588d ago

story was so good right? LOL

nycredude5588d ago

Just another troll. Smells bad. GTFO.

SnakeMustDie5588d ago

Why does people always equate linear=bad game. Some FPS games are linear by design choice. Its like asking Uncharted 3 to be a sandbox game. Although it will be awesome, it won't be as cinematic and immersive as UC2.

DeathMetal14745588d ago

Shoot 1 to 3 dudes walk forward. It's not impressive, but you'll get hammerd with disagress cause look where you are, N4g

Christopher5588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

***Do we really need another scripted sequence where we continuously shoot painfully obvious weak points on some giant monstrosity that goes down way too easily? ***

Based on the popularity of games that utilize such features, it would seem that we do need another one. Not to say that I'm a huge fan of KZ3/CoD/Halo/etc., but the desire for these games kind of speaks for the desire of all the things you just put down.

And, honestly, the mass majority of games are linear in design and no one seems to mind this. Even many games with "open" worlds are actually linear in the progression of the game. Whether it allows you the freedom to go left or right, in the end, more than 90% of the games out there have you reach the same point regardless of that choice.

LunaticBrandon5588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

Yes every FPS is linear, even Crysis. But this looked ridiculous. The whole video consisted of walking through a narrow area, plopping behind an object, lining up his shots with the crosshair and poking out for a perfect shot. In other cover based games there is a lot of movement. You move around trying to get a good shot. You don't have a crosshair while down in cover. This almost looks like one of those on rails FPS. Its also harder to aim with the third person cameras. Other FPS have more open environments, allow some choice and/or require a more tactical approach. In some other games the boss fights feel more dynamic. Half the fight was on a scripted aircraft. It looked just as bad ass the boss fights in Gears of War 2.

Doesn't look too bad. Can't wait for Feb!

Chaostar5588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

Getting the ol' anticipation going :) Now I just need the will to put down DCUO for a while to play this :P

Edit: I just noticed Rico swearing a lot, after all the people with sensitive ears complained I thought they toned it down all together. TBH I'm glad they've kept some in as it adds to the gritty image of the game... to a point anyway. Hopefully they've found a nice balance this time.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5588d ago (Edited 5588d ago )

Preview Code.

Can't wait to play Multiplayer.

One hell of a way to start the game.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic534d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23534d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1533d ago (Edited 533d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger524d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor1100d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar1100d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg1099d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz1491099d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance11381100d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim1100d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC1100d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance11381100d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle1100d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix761100d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM1099d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware7301100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger1099d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca1100d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy1100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

lukasmain1099d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright1099d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.

Killzone 3 is playable with mouse & keyboard on PC via RPCS3 & KAMI

DSOGaming writes: "While Sony does not plan to release Killzone 3 on the PC, Yahfz shared a video that gives us a glimpse at what such a PC version could look like."

Still looks secure 2 gens later... one of my favorite ps3 moments. With 3D and move the game is on another level

MadLad1851d ago

PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.

What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?

If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.

Applejack1851d ago

I disagree. The main draw for consoles has always be the simplicity of just putting the disc in / downloading it and playing without worrying about anything else. The average person just wouldn’t want to deal with emulation even though it’s very important for preservation.

Terry_B1850d ago

Even emulators are super simple to use.

jukins1850d ago

Youre getting flak because people on here thibk of themselves as pc wizards. But honestly most poeple try and go get emulators and romz they end up with malware.. yes theyre "easy" if you know the basics but alot of people dont. That said the fact that its taken nearly 20 years to get a sustantially better experience for ps3 games than on its native system shows the complexity of getting bc to work. Sony, if they have any intention, should just invest in a vastly better psnow experience.

1850d ago
Vegamyster1850d ago

jukins

Most people who emulate don't get malware, you'd have to be going to some weird sites for that to happen, heck years ago people were getting sketchier ad's resulting in malware warning on this site if you didn't have a ad-blocker lol.

SinkingSage1850d ago

Can't get malware if you legally dump your own games, which you should.

Rachel_Alucard1850d ago (Edited 1850d ago )

That's fine if that's the main draw, but it doesn't make it a better experience, just a preference. Having the freedom to do the things you can do on PC is what the appeal of PC is. Buying a game on PC means you never have to worry about the console makers just deciding the next hardware shouldn't support the generation anymore, which means everything you bought is stuck on that hardware instead of moving up with everything else. Nintendo uses this tactic to keep reselling the same games over and over at inflated prices. Sony cut all previous gens off the PS4 and sold it back to people in a poor attempt with PSnow. While the PS5 supports PS4 games, that may not be the case in the next gen after this. No to mention shutting off all the previous stores and updates completely. Even MS stopped making new BC titles at some point, so now there's a big list with 17 pages of titles that are not playable on Xbone and are just trapped on older gen. That's not a problem on PC, the reverse happens where you only have to worry if your hardware can play the newest releases at ultra with no issue.

AzubuFrost1851d ago

Shhh don't say that aloud! You're going to trigger a lot of console infidels here.

Shane Kim1850d ago

I rather play it when it's available then wait 10 years.

MadLad1850d ago

Did you purposely miss the entire point of my post?

Inverno1850d ago

Well that's the beauty of still owning a retro console tho. Those who usually complain about emulation are just being blindly loyal to a company. Emulation is great for many reason, but if I still owned the console then I disagree nothing beats plugging it back in and going down a nostalgia trip

The RPCS3 devs are doing great work. And Kami works nicely with it too it seems.
Very neat.

Magatsuhi1850d ago

Been playing mgo on pc with mouse. It's not perfect but I can make it work.

2 is the better game.

A Remake would be good. 60fps 2-4k

Omar3li1850d ago

60fps is peasant for FPS games now
