DC Universe Online voice chat still a work in progress

XMNR: Players can communicate in DC Universe Online for the PS3 and PC using a keyboard, controller or voice chat with a headset. The first two have worked fine since launch. The last one not so much even after the latest patch today.

I hate spending all this money only to have the technology bite me in the ass leading me to regret spending my money. I should get a discount or refund of the monthly fee for it not working for so long.

Queasy5597d ago (Edited 5597d ago )

It comes with a 1-month free code...

This has actually been one of the smoother launches of an MMO that I can recall. There have been minor downtimes for maintenance and patches but no game-crushing problems downtime like others have suffered in the past.

@Queasy

I love how biased this community is, maybe for PS3 players but for PC players there's at least 2000 or 3000 people that can't play the game at all.

The launch has been horrible you only have to go to PC tech support to see everyone calling the Devs completely incompetent.

SuicideShaun5596d ago

Well even this game being on ps3 you can tell that there was a huge some of money involved. In return they will neglect pc...

Queasy5596d ago

I didn't say it was perfect. I said it was better than some previous MMO releases.

BlackTar1875595d ago

2000-3000 out of how many sold?

SuicideShaun5596d ago

This happens with many games. Take lbp2 for example. The mp still isn't working great and the mics sound horrible. It's sad that devs don't make more betas and pay attention to this stuff pre-release.

BlackTar1875595d ago

I played LBP2 a couple times now 4 player online no mic problems what so ever but we had join game problems. Actually i haven heard of any mic issues on LBP2 yet but a whole bunch of room join failure issues all well still being able to talk

SuicideShaun5595d ago

We can talk but it sounds all choppy and cuts out a lot. Just isn't smooth. And yeah the joining games isn't exactly working either.

BlackTar1875595d ago

yea that sucks i had no problems with mics but joining games is so annoying. Wish you luck on LBP2 ill tell you in DCUo it is rather annoying since out of my friends im currently playing with im the only ne with MMO experience and trying to get on the same page is hard sometimes with out headsets.

Raoh5596d ago

yeah voice chat (and text chat) on the ps3 version are horrible, not to mention the map menu is horrific.

Bucky Sligo5596d ago

I don't want to turn this into a XBL vs PSN thing but one of the advantages of XBL is that the voice chat is integrated with the service meaning all games have high quality voice chat.
When we play Demon's Souls on the PS3, we use XBL to voice chat.

radphil5596d ago

Weird, I have DC on the PC and the mic support has been working real fine.

I've heard the many issues for PS3 though having the major issues on hand.

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
