MacWorld - Many game developers — especially those who’ve made their way to the mobile market from consoles — have turned to manipulating gamer nostalgia by bringing classic games to the iOS platform. Unfortunately, these ports of classic titles tend to be largely direct and unimaginative. And true to form, the same can be said for the $3 release of Altered Beast, Sega’s 1988 side-scrolling, beat-em-up arcade game.

This Altered Beast fan game adds a bunch of fresh and remixed ideas to an old classic and is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Hardcore Gamer: Fans of side-scrolling beat’em ups certainly remember Altered Beast. The 1988 Sega title was released in arcades before making its way to home consoles a short time after. It was quite popular at the time and remains a classic title. Now, Funko has announced an Altered Beast Pop! figure for dedicated collectors to obtain.
I remember Altered Beasts so fondly. It was badass changing into the werewolves, dragons, etc...
