Mass Effect 2 Review (Zavvi.com)

Zavvi.com: "So much has been written about Mass Effect 2 over the course of the past twelve months that there really isn’t a whole lot left to say. Yes, it’s the best thing that Bioware have ever done, by quite a substantial margin. Yes, it has set some kind of quality benchmark for videogame scriptwriting. And yes, it’s a space opera for people who normally..."

"Yes, it’s the best thing that Bioware have ever done, by quite a substantial margin"

~WRONG!!!!

it is hardly anywhere near the best bioware has done, that would be Baldurs Gate 2 and the expansion, over 200 hours of epic, deep, complicated gameplay, the plot and creative though behind BG2 absolutely insult and defile mass effect.

mass effect 1 was a 8.5, mass effect 2 was a 7 at best.

It is "rpg for add's"

basically a mediocre 3rd person shooter with 10% rpg elements, bad story and okay graphics on pc, on consolle the low res aliased textures are actually quite bad.

Just read your post after I wrote mine, and I'm glad I'm not the only one rejecting the overall consensus that this is somehow this bar setting drama of a game. It screamed generic space game to me.

YES! Baldurs Gate 2 ruuuuled! Great minds must think alike.

I played the 1hr demo last night and I thought it was OK at best. I understand that I didn't play the first one and that I am not into the story already, but the gameplay and graphics didn't blow me away at all. It looks good, but not amazing. Personally, I think God of War3 and Dante's Inferno were far better looking. Heavy Rain had better acting too.

I did like the choices that you can make and the heat cartridges for the guns is cool. No amunition because they all use laser weapons. That was cool. Overall though, it seems this game is a tad overrated to me.

I've played the PC version for over 250 hours and see things a bit differently.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast526d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine526d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast526d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman526d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast526d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave774d ago (Edited 774d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
