Now knowing the sales, an Alan Wake sequel may never come about. But with all the fans that there are for Alan Wake (so many people seem to want a sequel), then there could still be a slight chance a sequel would be made. But if there were a sequel, Remedy would need to work twice as hard to make this game truly something special. But what should be added in the franchise that could make the sequel better? Here are 6 things the sequel would need and should recieve to be successful and brilliant.

Here's everything announced and revealed during The Galaxies Spring Showcase 2026, including Echoes of Aincrad, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Northgard: Battlegrounds, Kitaria Fables 2, Phasmophobia x Alan Wake 2, and much more.
DF: "Alan Wake 2 is one of our games of the generation - a proper technical showcase - but with the arrival of Sony's upgraded PSSR upscaler, it's also a key proving ground for the capabilities of the revised technology. In its 60fps performance mode, the game's complex foliage, dense geometry and demanding lighting are paired with an internal 864p resolution, upscaled to 4K. It's a challenge that the original PSSR couldn't handle, sometimes comparing unfavourably with the original FSR2. However, the upgraded PSSR is a revelation by comparison."
I've already completed this game and everything else there is to do in it sadly, so I have no need to go back and enjoy the added enhancements that the new PSSR brings to this game. But I definitely want to go back and check out Control as I still haven't finished up all the DLC for that yet.
It's mad they can take a 864p image and make it close to a 4K image. This tech is gonna do so much for console gaming
Strange that the other story on the frontpage with AI upscaling involved is receiving a hugely negative response in the comments but a Playstation AI upscaler story...well that's just great!

CONTROL Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 will support new PSSR.
This more advanced version of PSSR will soon be available to all PlayStation 5 Pro owners, bringing noticeable improvements in image stability clarity of motion.

Such a weird post by them. Apparently they just mean the system wide toggle. Which is perfectly fine. This is based off a post they made after this post.
It's a shame, Alan Wake was a great game, though to be fair, I didn't buy it either. It was the one game in the last like 10 years that I actually rented. It was short but very well done. I know a lot of people didn't like it though.
I'm pretty sure even fanboys will have to agree if this game gets a sequel it'll probably go PC/PS3/360 to rack up more sales.
500k units shifted on the 360 alone isn't bad, but I think they were probably aiming for the 1 million mark. If you have a 360, I'd encourage you to buy the game, it's a pretty fresh experience, and it can be found for pretty cheap these days. ($20 new on amazon, $15 used).
EDIT - Ah my bad, forgot it's published by MS. I still think the game will go PC/360 though, they are going to want to rack in as many sales as they can. The only problem I see is that the people who were originally interested in the PC version of Alan Wake might be a little miffed about them axing the PC version of the original.
I would like to play as Alice Wake, she had no character development in Alan Wake (plus something wrong with her facial expression when she talked). It would be nice for her to learn about the darkness by fighting with it rather then her to find out at the end of the game by Alan, like what most games/films do....husband/boyfriend fights off bad guys, wife gets captured, saves wife, then explains whats going on.
Husband and Wife saving the world from the darkness....cheesy I know, but not really done before
Oh and number 6...CO-OP..........Does everything have to be Co-Op
Single player games can be fun on their own you know
I will be over the moon when it is announced. Which I am confident it will be.
The only people to blame are the ones who didn't buy it. If a sequel doesn't get created because of sales the only people to blame are the 360 owners. Shame on you for fueling trashy games such as black ops and when a gem like alan wake comes around you pass it up.
