DCUO Week 1 Review - Seriousless

A review of a players first week with DCUO.

"Alright, so as a European I was able to pick up DCUO on friday… it’s now thursday and I don’t think the disc has left my tray, just yet. I’ve hit max level, and everything’s open to me to do, near enough anyway, so I figured now was as good as any to give my impressions thus far of the game. I’ll do a quick explanation and critique, of each of the games core features that I’ve encountered so far."

Review is bang on the mark really and it's my fave MMO in a while especially after leaving WoW after they nuked it with Cata.

Nice write up, I'm also enjoying the game and agree with everything ChronoJoe mentioned. I've recently hit the level cap too and I'm just about to start raiding and pvp for armour sets.

I'm looking for a good league to help me with this, anyone who is recruiting drop me a line here or in game (Mechamorte)... Euro server (for all seasons).

I just bought this game on steam, I haven't been able to play it yet but I can give some impressions on how easy to set up the PC version is via digital download.

1) A 14GB download is a little annoying but I guess that's standard MMO size nowa days.

2) The account system is great an easy to set up no headaches, Although you are forced to end CC card details before you can even use your 30 day trial.

3) After downloading a massive 14GB's of data I booted up the client to find I had 6GB's more of data to down.

Over all the set up is a little annoying but I guess I did buy the digital download version, but the account manager seems solid except of the fact it's void of a paypal option.

Out of curiosity, I've read that the PC version offers a lifetime sub for $199. Did you see this option when setting up your account billing or is that information false/expired?

Ryudo5603d ago

Yeah lifetime sub is there for 199, although I wouldn't buy that yet it's hard to tell how long a new MMO will run for.

This game its crack too me, I cant stop my addiction too this game. Ive try my first alert mission yesterday the mission oolong it was awesome so much fighting and loot. This game humor kind of remind me of gta its so funny. Each mentor story arc is different awesome stuff. One more thing too the people characters that cant fly there is a jetpack in the game I've got mines from the vault. To everyone hold L1 and press up a few times or down its a zoom in an out.

Bolts5603d ago

The alerts in this game absolutely rocks. They're very well designed. The only problem is there isn't enough of them. At every few levels you're stuck playing the same ones again and again. Overall they did an excellent job at making an action MMO.

You took the words right out of my mouth!!! Consider me a DC crackhead!!! LOL!!!! I fcukin love this game!!! I'm a level 8 today, I'll be a 10 by the weekend. I hate getting my azz whipped by 20+ level Villans.

$15.00 a month will be invested!!!

Kurt Russell5603d ago

I was really hoping you were all going to say this game is crap. I have a fear of the mmo, and my god am I getting tempted!

zootang5603d ago

Add me to the crack list. I just like wandering around meeting people. Just getting used to it all, it's so big!

See, this is how a reviewer should review games. The games journalism world would be so much better with reviewers like this. Unfortunately, we have inconsistent IGN reviewers

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
