TSA Review: Mass Effect 2 (PS3)

TSA Writes:
Mass Effect 2 was one of our favourite games of 2010. The news that the series was making the leap across that console divide was welcomed by swathes of excited PlayStation 3 owners who had been quietly envious of the Xbox 360 and PC gamers who had been raving about the adventures of Commander Shepard ever since BioWare first let you build him (or her) in 2007.

Totally deserved score, it's without a shadow of a doubt one of my favourite games of all time, once the story pulls you in there is no letting go.

A must for any gamer no matter what platform be it PC, PS3 or on 360.

Kal8535600d ago

I completely agree. This is one of my two favorite games of all time the other being Ocarina of Time. Bravo Bioware.

Dark_Charizard5600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

Woahh I wouldn't go that far man...

Super Mario Galaxy 2 easily surpassed this game last year. Not to mention Uncharted 2, CoD4, Metroid Prime Trilogy, God of War II, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance, Metal Gear Solid 4, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, GTAIV, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Okami, Resident Evil 4 and quite a few others have been better games in the past 5 years.

All time? No wayy!

@charizard

I would say that the original oddworlds on the PS one are the greatest games ever made. Those are my opinions. Why argue it?

kharma455600d ago (Edited 5600d ago )

I'd stick ME2 above CoD4, MGS4 and GTA IV quite easily, and have it at least as good as UC2, GoW2, in fact, everything else you mentioned in that list.

Kal8535600d ago

@ Dark Charizard

I didn't say they were the best of all time, I said they were my favorite of all time. Which they are.

Crystallis5600d ago

I'll be picking it up in a couple of hours.

TANUKI5600d ago

Same here... I have to head to class in a few hours... 2 hours of boring lecture, then all night marathon with ME2 and LBP2.

GiggMan5600d ago

A must buy if there was ever one. The main story and all the DLC on one disc, this is a no brainer.

sorry for double post

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast526d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine526d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast526d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman526d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast525d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave773d ago (Edited 773d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
