plays fine here, just disappointed its the same levels again.. all gaming webs posted their hands on with this level, there must be tens of vids of this thing played over and over again. i say lets ignore the goddamn game before the devs can show off another level or environment

I wish we had more info about it. My only knock on the game is that it looks linear. I hope they open up the levels a bit. If they throw a little sandbox in it then KZ2 for GOTY 08. It's good that killzone sucked now the dev have been pushed to make 2 way better.

The effects and art direction are fantastic.

BUT... is it just me or are the textures looking very blurry and washed out? Hopefully, its just due to the low resolution video.

How was the AI in Resistance?

The xbox fanboys are really doing their best to defend their console. If you read the comments all the PS3 guys are saying is that this game looks beautiful. But there is always some 360 fanboy in there stirring it up with stupid comments. It must really be horrible to want a PS3 so much that you cant help getting angry. My advice is that if youre stuck with a 360 and if you dont have enough money to buy a PS3, you can always sell youre 360. Save up some money and buy a PS3 and you will be a free man.

had the Media and Gaming Community NOT put Sony under so much pressure during the past two years. I mean, they were working on the RSX chip all the way up until June 2006, a full year after the original specs were announced. It's funny that the director of Killzone 2 wasn't sure if his game was all the great until he showed it to a bunch of Sony execs a few weeks before E3; they were floored.

I cannot wait for Guerrilla to start implementing the high-level lighting effects (that's right, they want to make the game look even better) and putting game code on SPUs 5 and 6. Right now they're only using the PPU and SPUs 1~4.

Killzone 2 still has over 6 months worth of development left...and the pauses at the checkpoint are because...they are not using the streaming texture engine yet. The developers said the next build will have streaming texture engine...so there will be no pauses at check points. Look a Rachet and Clank....it use a new resistance based engine that has streaming textures...

as for my AI comment, I wouldn't mind if there were settings for AI for Killzone. Level one can be an easy setting. To a mid level equal to "Dang near impossible" to "Think outside the box"

Lot's of detail in this game. Pow! Headshot and the helmet flies off. That's my favorite part. This game is gonna be sweet.

Nobody doubts this game looks better than Halo. How it plays is a different story. From early accounts though, even that seems to be pretty solid. 2008 and Killzone couldn't come soon enough.

I'm not completely convinced yet, but it certainly has potential.

I'm just not all that concinced by this footage. I think they should show a level in a daytime setting. I'm sure it'll look much more impressive than this nighttime level which is kinda generic and bland imo.

But I like their approach, which is lots of post-processing fx and enviromental fx, rather than pushing polygons and super sharp textures.

I'm liking the animations a lot, here and there it's still a bit clunky and awkward, but on the whole it's definitely among the most impressive animations I've seen in a game.

One thing I can do without is all the unnecessary HYPE. People are already calling this a classic, GOTY whatever and all they've seen is a portion of a level. Let's just wait and see before we pull out all the fanboy superlatives.

I've seen hd of halo and while it looks pretty good, in terms of graphics, its about as good as enemy terrority quake wars, and that game is decent enough.

I've also got the crysis beta, and nothing touches it, except for killzone2, they are completely different games, on totally different systems using different engines, yet the fx these two companies are trying to employ is staggering.

These games are what next gen is all about.

Went to Gamestop today i PreOrder my Copy R&C ToD i got the Demo the game Visualy impressive is like watching PIXAR movie , the game is huge very colorful,THE DEMO IS MUST HAVE FOR A PS3 OWNER.

I'm seeing a lot of tech here - blood and body reaction to bullets(an advancement of what we saw in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark) etc and a quite believable game world.All fps should have these by now so it's about bloody time considering it isn't all that much harder to implement these things.

Killzone 2 is going to be pretty cool by my reckoning.

Gears has a much higher texture offering but it mostly feels like your playing in small arena sized sections.Killzone looks better overall in this respect thanks to the larger space that it's levels take place in.

The trouble with most FPS's is that they are mostly doing exactly the same thing time and time again.

Killzone2 will i think be one of the most attractive FPS, but i do question how more appealing this will make it.There's no doubt that a better looking game will be the choice for many but how much better can Killzone2 really be past the fancy tech.

So many well done shooters(and many more average ones)but few genuinely stand out for being exceptional.Halflife,Goldeneye ,Halo are exceptional and if Killzone can match this pedigree, then just maybe it will be remembered other than being another failed Halo killer.There is only so long before people start tiring of merely well done FPS like Resistance, Black, Area51 etc.These are reasonable games in the same way that most 2d platformers back in the 16bit era were also reasonably playable yet fairly forgettable.If Killzone2 plays much like a so so FPS yet looks fantastic, it will have failed to achieve what it needs to for Sony.

The reason i say all of this is because there is one thing i think people don't understand about a certain other franchise.Halo isn't just about doing what every other FPS does.Vehicles are as much part of how the game plays in the same way that weapons need to be there.To take vehicles out of Halo is to still have an extraordinary shooter, but their inclusion is something rather wonderful.Some shooters have vehicles as part of a game's section but that's fairly lame in comparison and acts more like a rest time until the next big push.There is of course even more to why Halo works better than the rest, which is to say Killzone2 will need to be something past the tech if it's to measure up to even the 1st two Halo games.And an admittedly very pretty Killzone with standard solid gameplay just wouldn't cut that.

Halo 3 has ramped things up considerably more this time round as well.

The environments look absolutely sweet as f***. I particularly loved the bit where the guy stops at a table, just to shoot through it so the things on it fall through. Really, the environment and the lighting are just phenomenal, along with the environmental damage.

Two things though. Firsst, it seems the character detail fell short of the original fmv that had everyone convinced it was gameplay. It still looks nice, but you can see it's not quite what they promised. And the other thing, the AI. Can anyone see a single point in that demo where the player was challenged? If it isn't the slow clambering over a wall, it's standing out in the middle of a clearing, taking piss poor pot shots at the player. The AI needs some serious tweaking. I mean if all you need to do for that final character is run behind him and shoot the obvious red box, something tells me this game will be freakishly easy.

Why does everyone constantly compare these two games graphics?

One took an artistic design and one is trying to get a realistic feel. It would be like comparing mario sunshine to MGS2, you can't call either better because they took different art directions

Always skeptic... but This is looking to be the best looking game ever made upon release. I say this cause Crysis will no doubt slip it's date a couple 12 times past Killzone 2's date.

Anyways, good on Sony. They've exceeded my expectations, that's for sure. I'm hard, hard, hard to please too.. When I look at something like Heavenly Sword I'm picking its graphics apart more than playing it. I do this alot with PS3 games, cause it was so expensive... Killzone, I think my complaints will be within' reason. HA!

I have to say that Killzone graphics really shine in 3 spots.

1. Character movement
2. The sky and background activity
3. Facial Expression

These are the real stand outs of the graphics.

The problem with Halo 3 is it already look dated. It appears to have clearer textures and thats it. KZ 2 however feature poly counts that I didn't think is possible for a console game and effects that is usually seen in DX10 games.

Regardless both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 sucks. You would think that a "nextgen" gaming machine would feature at least 1 Gig of mem. WTF were they thinking?

agreed i wouldnt say incredibly linear but it does still look linear. The game looks massively impressive and i love the blood and the death animations. I still think the A.I. should be better i don't like to see enemies that just stand there after you toss grenades at them at least try to make a run for it. I don't like enemies that stand and try to shoot me out of cover when i can easily take them out e.t.c e.t.c. My greatest fear for this game is in its linearity hopefully thats just for that stage.

yo for what i see in screenshots and gameplay i saw halo3 as a run n gun gameplay and the graphics are not cinematic but ok killzone 2 cinematic and will be tactical when they fixed the AI and when they finnish the game so shut up with the stupid ass AI comments. halo 3 will be the best shooter this year and the first 3 or 4 months next year with call of duty 4, haze, and unreal tournament. as an xbox 360 owner i kinda fhucked up cause i didnt preorder halo 3 i might get a used one if theres one, its sold out already. killzone 2 will be the best shooter in 2008 and the theres a new 399$ ps3 coming this christmas. so stop fighting fanboys. xbox and ps3 owners the features of what ive played in both console is awesome

Well looks like PS3 owners might get something worth playing. Very nice graphics but the AI looks terrible hopefully for sony owners it was on easy difficulty. All in all looks like a pretty solid game (although killzone one looked good and sucked) and i may have to buy a PS3 next year.

I really hate it when it stops for a checkpoint. Its only a few seconds but I wish a little text appeared at the bottom as you hit the checkpoint, not after its done saving!

Moving on, I really liked the rag doll's when they were getting shot, very nice touch. Obviously the graphics are nice and pretty as well. Cant really say more than that though since nothing beyond that first level has really been shown.

Now it looks like a great game, but a system seller, I don't think so. But thats just my opinion as I am getting sick of shooters and would love some RPG action.

I own a PS2 and KZ1, although both of them are now dead, PS2 broke and I really didn't want to get a new one. I'm not a noob fanboy as you say, nearly all FPS these days do not do anything new. HALO 3+ Killzone 2 -

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.
