Game Informer's Jeff Akervik: "Over the past year I've been slowly working my way through my pile of shame – the games I own, but have, for one reason or another, neglected. Suffice to say, it's been a very enjoyable journey as I've played through some truly great titles. And while a couple of the games in said pile were purchased as a result of my own eager anticipation, most were obtained thanks to a healthy dose of high praise by fellow gamers. But from where does this high praise emanate? Why do certain games strike a chord with a select group of people and miss the mark with others?"

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Very good article, and I see where the author is coming from. I know I have thought of such things in reverse.
I just played Diablo II for the first time in July-August, and thought it was a great title that I could sitdown and catch up to.
Resident Evil 4, I played it a little after it's release, on GameCube, and still thought it was okay at best.
When Ocarina of time came out, I thought it was a great game, but LttP was the pinnacle of the series. I really didn't think Mario 64 was all that great, even for setting a milestones in other 3D iterations.
He really did a good job of explaining how most feel about games. FF4 is my favorite FF because it was the first FF i played. I love 6+7 too. They are all great games but 4 is special. KH is my favorite game of all time. It was the first game with a great story that i played. Everything I played before KH was a crappy racing game, Spyro or Crash Bandicoot. I enjoyed these but they had pretty weak stories and that type of gameplay is not great to me. I really liked Crash but KH has great gameplay. I miss games like FF4 and KH theres just nothing like it on this gen. Square really needs to pick it up and give me my special game for this gen. So far it looks like the Last Story is going to be the game that will give me something new and different and will leave me wanting more. Now adays I have to play games that came out before I was born or at a too young age to play games. Games now need to start being as good as Chrono series, FF7,6,4,9 and even 10.
The reverse can also hold true. Some newer gamers won't even attempt to play a true classic simply because it's older than them, which is unfortunate.
I remember when I met my best friend and we talked about some games we played in our past. At some point in our friendship I mentioned Illusion of Time ( Illusion of Gaia for the Americaaaans ). And the guy freaked out as he, like me, thought that we ourselves were the only people we even knew who played that game. ( and till this day i still don't know who else played Illusion of Time)
Those are the moments I NEVER get with people who never played games before the Ps1.
Most new people I know are hyped about the new Ps3/360 titles, but when i ask them about some classic, they look at me as if i had some drugs.
Its a shame really t_t.
