Every now and then a game will come along that doesn't immediately attract attention but becomes more popular with time. At some point this kind of game can have such a devoted following that it reaches the level of cult classic. This list features ten games that fall into that category. They may have not been huge commercial successes but there are plenty of fans out there who still love these games.

According to an announcement posted to the System Shock 2 (1999) Steam Store page, the classic immersive will no longer be available for purchase on PC starting October 10.

Ever play a game a game only to discover at some point it transforms into a horror game? No? Well Netto's Game Room shares six games that do just that!
Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.
Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.
I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.

Double Fine Productions’ masterful Psychonauts turns 20 and it’s still as insightful today as it was back when it was new.
Such a solid group of games. I love almost all of them. (Still need to play SS2, though.) :-\
Earthbound didn't do well due in part to its horrible marketing campaign. I remember seeing some of these adverts as a kid and wondering why someone would put down their own game in their own ad.
