“Simple Mode” in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Good or Bad?

Capcom recently announced that there is a “Simple Mode” that players can select to play which enables them to perform combos and super moves with relative ease. This addition has not been welcomed warmly by hardcore gamers but on the other side of the spectrum, beginners have relished the inclusion of this mode.

They're catering to the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) to sell the most games. It's not a problem except if they cut corners on the real game to make the simple mode. If that happens, the loyal fans get punished so the developer can sell more games.

dude I love this mode; it's precursor to get my gf involved and then lead to other things :D duh

i have nothing against this mode as long as we have the option to isolate it so both players play either simple or expert mode only. specially online to even out the playing field

At least there a option for it.

It's not like you are force to play in a game were people are running around with juggernaut and last stand killing you even thou you are better than them.

I don't see the big deal. It's fine for offline, but it shouldn't be used online, unless they do like the website says.

bad....Bad.....BAD!

Every game isnt for every person.....when does skill come into gaming any more. Its a fighting game! Its bad enough they made the controls simpler on normal mode, MvC has been getting easier and easier with each one from six button layout, to a four button layout, and now this crap with MvC3 and its quite pathetic.

For instance every character launcher was a different depending on the character....now theres a "special button" that performs the launcher for each character..... What is there to learn?

Its going to be real fun to see what the online is like.......

CrescentFang5600d ago

I thought you can't use this online! NOOOOOOO

Every Marvel vs. Capcom Character, Together At Last

Artist Chris Cayco, who we’ve featured a few times before on Kotaku, grew up playing Marvel vs. Capcom (and Marvel vs. Street Fighter) games. His tribute to this, which took him over 175 hours, was to combine every single character to ever appear in Capcom’s crossover series in the one enormous image.

Every Capcom Vs. Game Ranked

As common as it is today, it is hard to believe that there was a time where gaming franchises crossing over was just a pipe dream. Capcom broke down the wall, but they took the combination of some of the most unlikely of franchises and made it the norm.

Whether it was a colossal successful partnership with Marvel Comics or a collaboration with rivals Namco and SNK, the “Vs.” series brought unforgettable experiences to the fighting genre.

The 90s was a time when videogame IP established themselves heavily to the point where a lot of major companies could start doing crossovers
