STP: Shadows Call Review

Andrew Podolsky from Slide To Play writes:

Shadow's Call is like those little sample scoops of ice cream you get at Baskin-Robbins or Cold Stone Creamery. It's just a taste of what you want, but in the case of Shadow's Call, you have to pay for the privilege. Shadow's Call is little more than a paid demo for what could someday be a great adventure story.

Editorial: Here are your 2011 Resolutions

So, the new year is upon us, and throughout 2010, I saw, heard, and read a lot of things that really concerned me. Gamers have some really bad habits that hurt the hobby, maybe more than they realize. I want to see some of those habits change in 2011 — for the good of gamers, gaming, and its standing among other forms of entertainment. Just because you didn't get all the achievements the game has to offer doesn't mean you didn't get your moneys worth. Trying to equate your gamerscore/trophies to the value of the game just seem completely irrelevant. Seems you trying to create an equation to a problem that doesn't exist.

The only game that i actually got all the Achievements was Assassins Creed 2. Other game that i'm close to 100% is Mass Effect 2, only 2 are missing.

If any of those guys also play PS3 games, I guess they will never want to play the earlier PS3 games that don't have any trophy.

If any of them is planning to get a PS3, will they play great games such as Metal Gear Solid 4 that has no trophy?

The reason I use PS3 games as an example is gamers who love to play games for achievements and trophies probably will skip early PS3 games that have no trophy.

A tribute to gaming cliches

Scrawl: "Despite the painstaking efforts developers employ to ensure their latest release appears as ‘realistic’ as possible, it’s always the little things – or sometimes painfully obvious things – that let them down. If, like me, you have a friend that compares almost every aspect of a particular game to the rules and expectations attached to reality, then there’s little doubt that you’ll understand this article. And please, don’t take this article too seriously."

Very valid arguments, there.

"Cover me while I hack this door!" *Enemies magically start appearing as soon as he says this* *Kills the last of the enemies* "Ok, now it's open."

Some of them are just easier to deal with like the elevator, though some games offer you the option to use buttons and the likes.

Nice article. Classic cliches, like exploding barrels and indestructible crates are lol
