i don't like using the word overrated. I'm not a big fan of mass effect 2 due to it being a boring shooter. The talking parts were cool but the combat was just boring. i wont call the game overrated because everyone has different opinions.

check my posting history on me2, game is solid but not game of the year. bought the game on 360, good but not great.

SC2 is better than ME2 for me personally and yet ME2 is rated higher. In this instance i do believe ME2 is overrated. However its still a great game. PS3 only gamers should definately get it for their PS3.

The Witcher is a far, far better game than ME1 and ME2, I am quite sure the witcher 2 will topple ME1, 2 and 3 combined.

ME1 was a solid 9, ME2 is a 7.5 at best, the whole "hey I'll be your best friend if we go to my lame planet and do something stupid" was annoying and encompassed 80% of the game. Had it been much, much less, and there were more original things going on, it would have been way better. Bioware and EA in typical corporate greed(completely understandable, it is a business), went for the lowest common denomenator in making the already barebones rpg elements of ME1 even MORE dumbed down, which, for me was the proverbial nail in the digital coffin.

Of course it is, but it`s hard for many teenagers to look between the fake reviews all over the net.

Sorry haters, ME2 rules....the whole game, the whole time. I mean its got the "Masheen" as the illusive man.....cmon....cant beat that.

ME2 is my 2010 goty, its a great game and not everyone is going to like it. Shouldn't these "journalists" start giving us some news already rather than opinions after opinions, it gets really annoying after a while.

it's sad when a strategy game,(STARCRAFT 2), has a better story and deeper customization options than an "RPG"

Part 1 was pretty weak, "the reapers" (barf) but at least they tried.

Part 2 was b-movie lame, but sad too because it took itself seriously.

ME 1 i liked and was a good game, but ME 2 is better IMO. If u nevered played ME 1 then ME 2 probably could be looked at as overrated, but its the story from ME 1 is what i would want ps3 owners to experience b4 judging ME 2

I agree. I think an average Meta score of 93 would be about right. 96 is a bit too high for this game. I do really enjoy it though! Don;t get me wrong, I've played it for my 360 and I'll get it for my PS3, I just think it wasn't quite at the rank of Uncharted 2 or Bioshock. The cover system, while improved over ME1, is still a bit clunky and sometimes the game feels like it can drag on and conversations go on for way too long. Its funny because I played Elder Scrolls for over 600 hours and I didn't care about long conversation XD

Lol anyone who actually played through 1 and 2 can tell you 2 is a MUCH better game. Who gives a damn what console it is on. Mass Effect 2 was a MUCH better game in both story and game play. I for one am glad it is coming to PS3, let more people experience the amazing story. I say screw a fan boy. Having GREAT games come to all consoles is better for the people that PLAY and LOVE to play games. Fanboys suck...flame me now I love it.

ME2 is REALLY overrated...

The whole planetary exploration aspect, which was pathetic in the first ME has simply been canned and replaced with a minigame-like feature which cries "we don't want to deal with this, or really improve it, so we'll scrap real exploration components of the game and throw in this little point and click crap," not exactly game of the year kinds of decisions to me.

The third ME, I really hope will reintroduce the exploration aspect with perhaps minor story enhancement opportunities/plot lines and just plane treasure hunting. Find relic/unique weapons, devices and so on. I think it would really cater to another part of the audience. Something they seem to be, but hopefully not, giving up on.

Ask the right people, and you'll find that at least someone out there will call a specific game overrated.

It's primarily a subjective matter.

For instance, Demon's Souls. Around here, you'll find people give it nothing but the utmost praise. As for me, while I do love the game, and have even successfully been awarded the Platinum trophy for it (proof can be provided for you skeptics), I feel the game is overrated. Overrated, but under-appreciated, mind you.

It's just a matter of opinion. I have my own opinion in regards to whatever game is in question, and others will have their own as well.

My view of Demon's Souls fall below the level of appreciation that its most fervent fans show for it, and in contrast, I myself hold Mass Effect 2 in higher regards than the author of this 'opinion' piece and those who agree with it.

While everyone is entitled to an opinion I find it interesting that alot of hate is surfacing now. Personally I have played ME1 on PC and have been waiting for ME2 to grace the PS3 (thanks EA and Bioware). I really enjoyed the first game, while not perfect the lore and depth put into the universe really interested me. I am really looking forward to ME2, and if the Meta score and what I have heard from friends is true then I am in for a treat. I just love me some sci fi.

I'm not getting into this debate, but what I do find funny is that if someone mentions they don't like a certain game, even though it's just OPINION, they automatically get deluged with disagrees. If you back it up clearly with FACTS, let your opinion go warranted and consistently argued.

Games cost too much money for someone who say, didn't like the demo, to shell out $65 for a game. I have no money, and I myself wouldn't pay full price for this game. I had some stuff happen to me that just sucks, so I have to borrow it from a friend. Even though the demo didn't impress me, I'm willing to give the full game a chance because I keep an open mind. Fair criticism only, people!

the rpg aspect of the game is nice...but the shooting is medicore thanks to the poor level design. I stopped playing the game after about 20 hours.

I played the demo and it was good but the actual gameplay was ok, I think the problem with the demo is it obviously doesn't give you much story and I can see why that could put people off it. It seems this game is appreciated for it's story and the more you play the better it gets but I am not sure if the gameplay is all that. TBH I am more looking forward to getting Dead Space 2
