Yea it does but it also took them over a year to do it. In fact they didnt say one word about it for 18 months. And even when you do get your 360 back from the shop it still has the same problems. i'm from Chicago. and here Xbox is not considered to be a "cool" console. its looked at like a console for nerds. i said this before and people here thought i was flaming. i have a 360 and i still think the same way. we talk about this all the time at my college, the biggest 360 fans are SUPER LAMES.

i'm from the inner city, but i stay in the suburbs now, and everywhere i go its the same ol' thing. Xbox is called the console for nerds and geeks. some of the people on this site valid these assumptions. people associate the 360 with people that look like Bill Gates.

Since the original Xbox when it was at war with the Ps2, the ps2 didn't win the war because of the better graphics or best prices, no, the ps2 won the battle because of the funnier and coolest games, hell the gamecube was coolest than the xbox, and up to now things haven't change, and it's not say the xbow 360 it's not a good console, it's a great 1, but if microsoft don't change their politics on what kind of games they developpe, they will loose the war again.

just a style preference. The PS3 has a lot of style, along with the Sony brand in general. That trait alone doesn't make the PS3 better. I do like the fact that Sony has varied games (though MS has made great strides) like Ratchet and Clank and Jak (both great platformers), along with upcoming games like Uncharted.

Every company has a certain persona they push. Microsoft has always lost some style points to Apple, Sony, and other companies, but that doesn't change the fact that their products sell . . . and sell very well.

When it comes to consols its all about the quality which why I bought a PS3 ;)(being cool now is just a bonus)

For the record, consoles aren't geeky. I'd have to go with pc's on that matter. Nintendo and Sony's systems definitely have that cooler edge to them. Microsoft never really was great at hardware design or pretty gui's. I mean the original Windows was a direct rip off of an OS from Xerox, and Vista is just Xp trying to be Mac os. I think the wii has the whole white and glossy Apple treatment, and the ps3 has the sleek sexy black treatment. As for games I'm digging what's on all the systems. I do favor the ps3 library because I can play the 360 games on my Pc. Right now I'm running Bioshock on a 5 year old Sony Vaio with a Vista hardware rating of 4.1 (minimum rating of 2.0 needed and required 3.0), so I can play the game with some nice details at 1024 x 768.

Based on what I read about this article I have a couple of questions:

1. They mentioned the XBOX 360 by name, yet they only mentioned Nintendo and Playstation by brand; why is that?

2. Which Nintendo, and which Playstation since that said which XBOX.

3. Why was a copy of this great list not printed with the article.

4. How does the sampling of 2000 people from the same geographical location determine what is cool in a world ob billions from thousands of completely different orgins.

5. Based on question 4, why would this be considered news for the masses unless the title read "Xbox 360 not considered cool by british cool brand group." With that being said, it would be only news for the people surveyed to let them know how the survey went. Since no one else really would care.

6. Is this cool brand group representitive of the gaming community in Great Britian. I think not, since the sales of the 360 in Britian are far far more than 2000.

All this poll proved was that 2000 British teenagers don't determine what is cool for the rest of the world. They probably don't think Japanese RPGs are cool either, but the Japanese sure do. :)

The name of the 360 isn't cool. I'll explain why in 3 stages. The 1st stage is the non-gaming perception, the 2nd stage is the name linking to function and the 3rd stage is the name linking to marketing and general 'catchyness'.

First of all the general non-gaming perception:
Go around talking about the Xbox 360 and you're labelled a geek straight off just because it sounds like such a stereotypical geek name. I've seen so many TV shows where the console is called something like a Gamesphere or Gamebox7000 or something crap like that just because it sounds nerdy, the Xbox 360 fits in perfectly with those.

Go around talking about the Playstation 3 or PS2 and you're labelled a gamer, the degree of gamer depends exactly on the context of the conversation, but since many people own PS2's and have heard of the Playstation brandname you're usually seen as one in a majority so get away with it, you're not labelled supernerd like you would with a 360.

Go around saying Wii and you're seen as one of those in with the trend of owning a Wii and are usually asked if you have WiiSports and whether or not it's fun (Sometimes a toilet-related joke preceeds that).

2nd stage of reasoning: The name of a console should point towards its function; the Playstation has that down perfectly. It's a 'station' for 'playing' games on. The Wii and Xbox 360 get nothing in that category.

3rd stage of reasoning: The name of a console should be either easy to remember, catchy or something that could generally be seen as a fashionable product to own based off of the name (Perfect examples for this category: iPod, iTunes, iPhone).

The Playstation is easy to remember the proof of that is in how well-known it is, for example if I ask an older/elderly member of my family what a Playstation is they may not know exactly what it looks like but they know it's used for playing games on and generally what it does.

The Wii is very much like the iPod, it's a catchy name that makes no sense but because it's catchy it doesn't have to. If I were to ask an older/elderly family member what a Nintendo Wii is they'll probably laugh at first then say 'I've heard of it, what's it for?'.

The Xbox 360 is definately not trendy, it's not catchy unless you start using 360 all the time and then those that don't know about gaming have no idea what you're talking about. If I were to ask an older/elderly family member what an Xbox 360 is they'll say that they have no idea and move on to something else.

So the 360 ticks no boxes, has no real presence outside of the hardcore gaming community and will suffer because of it. Ever wondered why the numbers of 360's sold and so much like the number of Xbox's sold? That's because it's once again penned into the same hardcore gaming market and can't move away from that.

It's not a cool name and as the name is what you'll hear before you actually see it, it's not cool and the console itself is perceived as not being cool. It's not that dificult to work that out. You just have to seen things from other people's points of view and detach yourself completely from yourself and gaming for a moment.

The 360 is still better than the PS3. Just look at the games.
