Top 10 Predictions for 2011

GamerNode's Mike Murphy writes: "The clock has turned, the calendar has begun anew, and another year is upon us. 2010 was a year filled with plenty of surprises: Schwarzenegger v. EMA went to the Supreme Court, Infinity Ward was turned into a shell of its former self, APB and a fair share of other titles fell short of expectations, non-Nintendo motion control was introduced, Elder Scrolls V was revealed, and much more. But it's time now to look ahead to this new year and just what it may bring us. With that in mind, I've come up with my top ten predictions for just what could be in store for us in 2011..."

The author obviously put a lot of thought into these predictions. Great predictions. Great read.

Number 2 definitely needs to happen

My prediction for 2011 is PS3 will die out due to the upcoming piracy from the new advances in PS3 hacking.

Cenobia5621d ago

@Best

That is a very poor prediction. Any hacking will have a minimal effect on the PS3 and it definitley won't cause it to "Die out".

Piracy ran rampant on the PS2 and it was still hugely successful. I'm guessing you don't know what a mod chip or HD Loader are.

Online play is a huge factor this generation so needing to access PSN has made piracy even less worth it. If you want to play online you're going to need a legitimate PS3 with a legitimate game inside. If these hacks even lead up to playing a copy of a PS3 game, which I have yet to see evidence of, the effect will be minimal.

I hope you were being sarcastic.

@cenobia

nope he's serious which makes him even more sadder than he is. like in one the of lbp 2 review articles he stated that "isn't it obvious that the reviewer was payed off?" he is a sad troll nothing more.

TheLeprachaun5621d ago

Aye great article. I agree wholeheartedly with all those predictions.

dorron5621d ago

Most of them seem pretty acurate to me...

RyuDrinksTheDew5621d ago

the only prediction i disagree with is the "Duke Nukem will flop" one.

while i dont think it will be a blockbuster, i think it will sell 1-2 million, simply because of what it is.

eggbert5621d ago

I think they mean critically, not commercially.

bronxsta5621d ago

About Duke, that's exactly why I think it will do well.
Most games now are concerned about realistic that and emotional this and I don't mind that but first and foremost, games should be fun.
And the game looks like a lot of mindless b-movie fun, which is never a bad thing.

RyuDrinksTheDew5621d ago

we are on the same page, gaming needs Duke!!

Trytobee15621d ago

Pretty solid predictions.

I'm still very interested to see Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 going head to head. I think these are the two fan favorites this gen as far as exclusives.... and are probably the most anticipated games of 2011.
I hope they both release same day.... and it's not to compare sales, it's to compare reviews.

And please save the trolling .... no one knows yet, all we can do is wait and see.

And as far as GOTY ... there is still Oblivion and Mass Effect to consider for 2011... but I can see why this guy predicted Uncharted 3.

eggbert5621d ago

Oblivion was the name of that particular game, not the whole series.

I don't know why, but I HAD to point that out, sorry.
