Activision Blizzard is losing ground as we know it. Why? Two of their biggest franchises have finally kicked the bucket in sales. This is in part due to the fact of what I call “franchise fatigue” where publishers push to many games of the same franchise.

Today, nearly 400 video game workers within Blizzard’s Platform & Technology department have voted strongly in favor of union representation with the Communications Workers of America (CWA), either by signing a union authorization card or indicating that they wanted union representation via an online portal.
When you're owned by the biggest corporate c**t to have ever existed then you better be in a union.

May 7 (Reuters) - A federal appeals court on Wednesday rejected a legal challenge by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to Microsoft's (MSFT.O), opens new tab $69 billion purchase of “Call of Duty” maker Activision Blizzard.
The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower judge's order that said the FTC was not entitled to a preliminary injunction blocking the deal, which closed in 2023.
Final nail in FTC´s coffin!
It was a lost cause from the start and a waste of taxpayers money!
This FTC case provided fascinating insight into gamers' views on economics/politics. It's very common for gamers to blame capitalism for many of the negative trends in the industry, but as soon as the U.S. government started exercising one of the most recognized limitations on capitalism (monopoly regulation), most gamers turned into libertarians and starting spouting Republican talking points (or at least pre-Trump era Republican talking points, lol) on "government staying out of the way of private businesses."
I remember when certain people here were saying they weren't going third party, guessing to recoup that 69 billion they are doing just that.
To be honest as a long time ps gamer, this deal initially made me panic.
but if I had known that it make MS u-turn on exclusive strategy, I would have happily joined xbox fans supporting the acquisition.

Licensing issues often leave many games forgotten. But all that aside, here are 10 classic games desperate for remasters.
The getaway
Smugglers run
Dead to rights
Worlds scariest police chases
Sure I’m missing a few.
Ape Escape.
Fun game but, wow, you need a college degree to understand the controls.
A remaster would also save you from having to constantly fight the camera.
Keep the music though. Those drum and bass tracks fit really well and haven't aged. Made me think that more games could work well with drum and bass tracks, but unfortunately it's a somewhat niche genre now.
Xenogears, Xenosaga trilogy, Vagrant Story, Drakengards, Parasite Eve and many more but I’ll start with those
Yeah totally agree about Tony Hawk franchise. The last few games have failed to capture the magic of earlier titles. I'm now totally converted to being a Skate 3 nut lol
I think Call of Duty gives Activision a lot of money. Without the franchise, i don't know if there will still be Activision.
As long as there is WoW(CoD will die sooner or later), ActiBlizz won't need another franchise. Sad but true, they can just milk WoW, CoD and GH for all its worth.
Why is there a question mark at the end of the title? I see journalists haven't even passed basic 5th grade English.
bobby kotick has gotten most of these losers of n4g by the balls with CoD as it is and goes beyond this website. considering how it went to sell something of 8 million on its first month... thats a heck of alot of fools giving patronage to activision. with the amount of money they are recieving from CoD:BO, they really can just do nothing for the rest of this gen. no need for new ips they already have it made.
and if anyone asks my last game with CoD is MW and when i say MW i mean MW:RE which was on the wii so screw u too.
