IS there even a meaning for these comparisons? What exactly both side trying to prove? That your console is superior? Bring out the exclusives and you know which is the better console is that simple. But who cares? If you are looking for the BETTER version of ME why not simply just get yourself a PC version? The both console's version is inferior in every way. It's LOGIC.

I will correct him on one thing. he says that recent comparisons of the XBL and PSN demo confirm it looks better on PS3, but that side by side video he posted is NOT from the demos.

Not playing though Mass Effect 1 yourself is a big deal. The comic is going to help but not being able to play through viscerally and get the trophies will take away from the overall scope of Mass Effect

That being said once you get into mass effect 2 on the PS3 things will be great. All the DLC, Mass Effect 3 engine, and plenty of trophies to collect will keep me coming back for hours.

Some of his reasons on here are not that big of a deal, like swapping discs in the middle of the game. I know its very subjective. But when the guy says not swapping discs is a reason Mass Effect on PS3 will be better but missing the first game in the place of a interactive comic isnt that big of a deal. It seems to me he is clearly showing a bias to the PS3, considering Mass Effect 1 will never be released on PS3.

Most of his reasons were solid but a few don't quite add up especially when looked at it in a broad scope.

God please just stop with this shit and enjoy the game. This is all so unnecessary. And the screen tearing in the PS3 demo couldn't be more noticeable if the game itself was split screen.

Have some of you notice when the collector's ship fires at the Normandy at the beginning of the game you can't hear joker's voice say "there coming around for another pass" why can't we hear that on the PS3 version for some reason.

As I do agree about the extra content on disc, which is enough for me to buy the game again, and ME3-engine (DEMO looked identical tought), I don't get the last part.

Missing ME1 story isn't big deal? It's big deal actually to get most out of the series, actually ME1 is better game on story part than ME2, tought ME2's presentation was waaay better. It's like watching SW episode 5 without episode 4, it's still great, but not the same.

Just pick up ME1 (you can get it for 10€ for PC or X0), and don't miss one of the best games ever. It's great deal at that price, and I can quarantee that ME2 is a LOT better experience after this.

i played ME1 and ME2 on xbox but i never got to play any dlc and once the story was over i felt like going back wasnt that inportant but now that the ps3 version is coming out complete im thinking im going to buy this.

its too bad ME1 wont be coming to ps3 but im sure i wont be the only person moving over to ps3 to finish the trilogy considering you can make all the decisions from ME1 during the comic portion.

Played the PSN demo. The PS3 version has more detail compared to the 360 but I understand if people prefer the 360 because of its clean look. The PS3 version has a lot of shadows and cover most of the details like Miranda's face. Anyway, the PC version is the best.

It's very interesting how people keep trying to downplay the importance of the first game. How easy is it to say you won't miss it if you haven't played it? Do you think there would have been a Star Wars Saga without there first being a Star wars? It's the effect of the story as a whole that makes it great. It's just not the same any way you try to color it. Even with it's improvements, Mass Effect 2 certainly would not exist without game 1. A first impression or introduction isn't important? What? It's better in a mini interactive comic? Yes, I'm sure! I think it's great that PS3 owners get to enjoy this world and it's characters but trying to convince yourself a comic is just as good as having played an entire game......if you say so! I guess GOW 2 didn't need GOW huh?

I played the demo last night and I enjoyed it; it took me some getting used to as I have Mass Effect on the PC, and despite some screen tearing and juttering of my character when I run, the game looks fantastic, nothing like those screen caps posted on those comparison sites. There wasn't too much lightning and nothing was washed out like those sites would want you to believe. This game is a day one buy for me.

Time you lot stopped all the hate and gave credit to the 360 as a great gaming console. After a whole year and a new engine ME2 has arrived on the PS3 and you all couldn't wait to laugh about it being the best version etc etc on the PS3 but then the demo came out and it's the same old story. The 360 is the better console version still, even after them taking a year to sort it out. The consoles are so evenly matched it makes me laugh how the PS3 gang try to convince the world that they have some sort of super computer that nothing comes close to,but to be honest the consoles are very close it's all down to the way they are developed for, and that's where after 5 years the 360 has the edge. Take GT5 , five years or more and is it that much better than Forza3 ?, well the critics think not and so let's all just enjoy our consoles and don't go hanging yourself if you have a dropped framerate or a screen tear.

This opinion article is full of "LOL". I'll just hit the main point, Even though the ps3 is using the new engine, its having some difficulty streaming from the BD and has some lighting and shadow issues. The xbox 360 as found by lens of truth and digital foundry in its current state still looks slightly better on the 360. If you watch videos they look nearly the same. Just go and enjoy the 2nd part of the trilogy and stop trying to make something out of nothing.

Running the ME3 engine the PS3 should look better

I Have played ME1 on both the the PC (steam bargain) and 360, and only the ME2 demo on the PC (which is absolute silk).

ON the 360, I have 2 ME1 scenarios which made ME2 play thourgh very different.

ME1 does matter, if you have invested a lot of time playing alternate playout. With Wrex dead or alive (Who is the Krogan leader). Who you sacrifice; who you do or don't interact with. Hey that secret agent was happy with me in ME2 after that mission in ME1. I guess I will en up tapping her in ME3. There are a number of things that I thought did not really matter, but crop up in ME2.

I'm only going to play it becuase of the lack of RPG's this gen. Where are the RPG's? Enough with the FPSers. That old shiz died in the 90's along with Doom.

I am actually rather surprised of the normandy comparison video, It looks sharp and brighter on the PS3. Its a good bonus that all the DLC will be included in the game at no extra cost i assume. All on one disc, I never played ME2 on the xbox 360 since i had a decent PC enough to run ME2.

Finally downloaded the demo last night. I gotta say, pretty long for a demo. And having not played ME 2 on the 360 but playing ME1, I loved it. Will be picking this one up eventually, but Dead Space 2 comes first.

Spoken like someone who has no idea what they are talking about. You haven't played the game on the PS3 you don't know if it's better. A demo means nothing and quite frankly the screen tearing alone in the demo shows that yet again developers don't care enough to actually port games to the PS3 correctly. Stop pretending like it looks so much better on the PS3 because it doesn't. They look nearly identical in fact if either system would get the nod it'd be the 360. Screen tearing is not something you can simply over look. It doesn't happen in the 360 version it shouldn't happen in the PS3 version.

This is stupid everybody knows it better on ps3 because blu-ray and a new upgrade they did plus it running on the mass effect 3 engine so there is no point of getting ME3 because the game will look old and play the same.

Both versions are pretty much the same, just different gamepad. Same big screen TV and comfy couch.

And for those who only played the PC version. I must say I feel sorry for you guys. Only getting half the experience/immersion.

I remember playing ME1 on PC and didn't enjoy it, then late, played it on my 360 and loved it.

I guess sitting at a computer desk on a tiny screen will do that to ya (ruin immersion experience)

As far as the PS3 version goes, I think I enjoyed it that little bit more then the 360 version, simply due to the PS3 controller, making the controls feel more 'fluid' and 'smooth', rather then the slight 'robotic' feel that the 360 controller brings.

I'll definitely be picking ME2 up for PS3 and will most likely shift across to PS3 for ME3.

ME2 and Dead Space within a week of each other.

Out of all the fanboys I think the pc fanboy is the absolute worst. I just can't wait till the day comes when pc gaming is completely dead which in my opinion i think is now anyway. If a console had the ability to upgrade its hardware every month to get 20 more frame rates and sharper textures it be a whole different story. Its pathetic that pc gamers have to buy a new videocard all the time or multiple ones to get the framerates and textures they need. Your just being milked out of your money and XFX, PNY, EVGA, are dancing and swimming in your hard earned money. They purposely tax pc graphics so that they can make a profit off you fools if they didn't you wouldn't have to buy a videocard for five years like a consoles lifespan.

As we speek engineers from IBM and other companies are probably working on the next gen consoles to finally put the pc to death. To say they aren't or can't is a insult to IBM and every engineer. The cell processor is a perfect example of what they can put in a console and that puts all modern desktop pc cpus to shame.

BTW I have a $3500 ASUS gaming laptop in my "Computer nook" of my house with I very very top notch computer chair built custom made with extra lumbar support ect ect..and I try playin PC games from time to time- its alright but get bored really fast.

My PS3 is in my mancave and whew its just so much more comfortable like 60 inch sony lcd tv the most comfortable huge couch with a huge ass ottoman with my satellite to watch tv too - all I have to say is forgetabout it. no comparison.

If ME2 is not better grahically then EA really should consider shutting down this studio cause afterall its a year old on 360 and it also runs on a upgraded engine.

so the ps3 finally gets the mass effect 2 …well played the demo and found out it runs some what faster but there were times the graphics would tear but the gameplay has not changed… graphics are graphics and speed will be speed but in the long run the game is what counts… ps3 vs 360 does not matter. if you own both systems and have the same game sure… if you played and downloaded the DLC on xbox then you you know it is a very good game…as for the ps3 running the ME3 engine we would have to see until the game comes out the demo was not enough to show what the engine can do …sure more pixel are shown and one disk to run on but the game no matter ps3 or 360 it will be a good time no matter what system it is …if you got the money spend it if not continue playing on pc or xbox but remember mass effect 3 will be here in a year so ps3 people enjoy the game and 360 owners there is no real reason to hate you played the game already … you would only hate if you played the game and it sucked… like i said for all the people that own both systems and played through the game… if your a fan and got the money sure get the game…

The purpose of this article is clear. Incite yet another round of this endless Sony vs. Microsoft debate. In that, it succedes as evidenced by the number of replies and this dissertation I'm typing now. :-) But let's be realistic. The game hasn't even been released yet and it's "undeniably better" on the PS3? Exactly how would you know that having not played the game on the PS3? If you want to get technical, neither console can possible best a PC graphically. Even a mid-range graphics card is far more capable to say nothing of an enthusiast's card or the monthly updates. Throw in a wireless keyboard and your large screen TV and my point becomes that much clearer. But, people should play on whichever platform they choose. I have all of them for different reasons. For me, what is truly "undeniable" is this ludicrous attempt to downplay the importance of Mass Effect 1 simply because it isn't available on the PS3. How you discount the entry point in a story driven RPG as though it were incidental and unnecessary is pure insanity! Far more than a tool for making decisions, the experience as a whole is much more personal when the character you created goes on this 3 game adventure you control. Had the introduction failed to capture the imagination of it's audience, surely there would not exist a sequel, or any sequels for that matter. How many flops have sequels? Anyone who played through GOW 1-3 will tell you the entire journey mattered. Each part of the story makes a difference. I understand the reason behind the comic. Bioware simply had no other alternative for the PS3 only crowd. Trying to spin this story to suit your needs, irregardless of actual fact is fanboyism at it's "undeniable" worst! I really don't see any of the reasons that the author gives as making the PS3 version infinitely better. I have both consoles and its great that PS3 owners can now experience one of the best games of this generation but there really isn't anything that puts one version over the top. Saying that being on only one disk makes the PS3 version is quite the stretch and reach for the stars. Somehow I feel this article is just trying to start a flame war.

Mass Effect 2 is so last year

i think the graphic googles have come off for the ps3 version. me2 is at best a 7, with scaled back rpg elements and the "waist high box warfare"

i hope they bring out mass effect 1 so i can save the federation. This effects the story very much in number 2 and thus mass effect 2 will have a mass effect on 3 :)i feel limited on the ps3 version at the moment. I have xbox and ps3. why limit yourself to one?

The disk swapping thing is a lame "advantage" for the PS3 version. Swapping the disk once in 30 hours of gameplay is not an issue.

I reality, the 360 drive installs games faster than blu-ray. I guarantee that more time will be lost on PS3 for game installation compared to the 360 times for installation and disk swapping.
