This one is for the PC Dragon Age fans out there. EA's Mike Laidlaw shows us that the best way to win any RPG combat encounter is to rain down AOE arrows and fireballs on top of your well armored ally.

No tactical view cam? I suppose we'll have to wait for a mod since they are too lazy to put it in.

toaster5620d ago (Edited 5620d ago )

I thought they confirmed that the tactical view would come back.. if not then no biggie. Mods will take care of that. Beauty of an open platform.

DA2, Witcher 2, Elder Scrolls V, good year to be an RPG fan.

I never liked RPG's until i played Dragon Age Origins. Great game.

Dragon Age 2 will be on PS3 right?

WhiteNoise5620d ago (Edited 5620d ago )

I'm pretty sure they announced there would be a tactical view in the PC version ages ago. I think the reason they didn't zoom the camera out is to just show off the fighting.

The camera goes pretty far out anyway, so as long as you can zoom out it won't bother me if it's not 100% top down.

As long as it's not an over the shoulder type deal ( console verison rofl rofl rofl )

@cgoodno

"people who are working their butts off "

Get a clue, developers make a lot of money and EA and Biowarr make millions in profit, they sure a hell aren't doing us, the consumers any favours by REMOVING A FEATURE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE ON THE CONSOLE VERSION.

You think 256mb of vram in a console can handle it is you were to zoom out real far tripling the amount of things being shown on screen all of a sudden? no they cannot. PC can, removing features is a bad thing. I know console gamers like the bend over for $60RRP games standard when the PC version is $40, and they also like paying for cut content in the form of DLC. But just because you have no standards does not mean we should lower ours.

If diablo 3 comes to consoles, it will be an over the shoulder RPG....

So, it's "I didn't see a tactical view, therefore the people who are working their butts off to make a game for me are too lazy to put it in."?

They have said in the past that there is the choice to change the camera angle view to an overview angle. I haven't seen footage of it, but the last thing I'm going to do is insult the people making one of the only tactical RPGs out there.

Letros5620d ago (Edited 5620d ago )

Yea I'm sure they are slaving at it 15 hours a day.

/s

Anyway, there won't be a tactical view,

"While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise orders, which is what we're tuning now."

I'm glad they know better than some of us who've been playing WRPG's since Baldur's Gate.

"I'm glad they know better than some of us who've been playing WRPG's since Baldur's Gate."

They MADE Baldur's Gate. I think they know what they're talking about.

If you don't like it, you can just download a free mod and have it your way.

Letros5620d ago

"They MADE Baldur's Gate. I think they know what they're talking about."

Thanks captain obvious(even partly Black Isle played a big part of BG), which is why its a shame they are deviating from the formula, you know the "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2 that they talked about during DA:O development"

Christopher5620d ago (Edited 5620d ago )

***Yea I'm sure they are slaving at it 15 hours a day. ***

Actually, many of them more than likely are...

I swear.

And, seriously, you're just floundering around with the following comment: "I'm glad they know better than some of us who've been playing WRPG's since Baldur's Gate."

And Black Isle didn't pay much of a part other than publisher for Baldur's Gate.

Letros5620d ago

Ok, don't mind me, I shouldn't doubt them!

kaveti66165620d ago

Black Isle made Fallout, didn't they?

anyway, those guys are dead and gone and a bunch of morons called Obsidian are trying to ride off their history.

Letros5620d ago

They assisted in BG series, yea obsidian isn't anything compared to Black Isle.

looks like the second way was much more effective. That's the way I will play. I love the look of it though, the on with two swords was very fast moving.

Christopher5620d ago

If you play on hard mode, it's the only way to really play successfully. Especially when it comes to boss fights and dragon fights. Even on easy and normal, you're going to want to be tactical in your approach.

Raendom5620d ago

Wow. I never played DAO that tactically, even on PC. Can't wait for this. 2011 I could play ONLY Bioware games and it'd still be the best year ever.

kanetheking5620d ago

on the 2nd Walkthrough hawk lost more life. well they kind just throw him in doing not much.

mobijoker5620d ago

Tactical view???where? Can any1 confirm if they will release mod tools? If the view shown in video is the only one,i am sure in need of a mod to zoom out.

Dragon Age Lead Says Including World State Reactivity Felt Like It Was "Irrelevant Or Not Enough"

Dragon Age 2 set the precedent that the series would always carry our choices over, but was it worth it?

If the choices won't matter, why bother? Bioware works so hard at giving meaningful choices but rarely if ever carrying out the impact of such choices to the end.

EA Made Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLC Free On PC By Retiring The BioWare Points System

Immersed Gamer writes: "In order to replace the oppressive BioWare Points system, EA is making a large portion of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age DLC catalogs free for PC users.

For those of you blissfully unaware, EA and BioWare employed a payment system called BioWare Points on PC to pay for DLCs for titles like Mass Effect and Dragon Age. While PC gamers have been struggling with BioWare point’s unfair conversion rates and extremely scarce and cost-detrimental sales.

Console players have been allowed to purchase content in pieces through the appropriate Sony and Microsoft shops. For real money, and not BioWare monopoly bucks. In turn, console players missed out on some DLC content, such as Mass Effect 2 pre-order bonuses that have been repackaged into a DLC pack."

Great response to Ubisoft and their disgusting behavior. Ubisoft decide to take away DLC from people who paid for it, while EA give it for free to everyone when they realize their system sucks. Who would have thought that EA of all companies would be showing Ubisoft how it should be done (even if this is EA fixing their own mistakes as well).

Mobis-New-Nest1394d ago

What goes around comes around and I promise you, Ubisoft will see their actions blow back on them when their diminishing sales numbers and stock taking a hit downward. That's the only way a company learns when they decide to be reactive instead of proactive.

All BioWare Games Ranked from Worst to Best

BLG writes: "There was a time that BioWare games were the biggest deal in gaming. The Canadian developer’s legacy of all-time classics is well known. Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic, and Baldur’s Gate are some of the biggest names in gaming.

While BioWare’s quality has fallen off lately, there’s no denying the quality of titles in their portfolio. That’s why we’re going to dive in and rank every BioWare game from worst to best. By every, I do mean every BioWare game, even the ones you completely forgot about!"

Ranked from worse to even more worse more like, they been on free fall for a fair few years now and I personally don't think any of there earlier games have aged well

autobotdan1553d ago

Wow to think at one point in their history they made a Sonic the Hedgehog game..crazy

Anthem is crazy underrated. I really enjoyed it. ME1 is Bioware's best imo

I actually put quite a bit of hours into Anthem but i dont think its underrated. It was a huge mess, server issues, gameplay issues, crashes, no endgame loop, too few different enemies, uninteresting gear. too few dungeons.

It for sure had potential and if they could have managed to keep the same gameplay of the classes but without the rest of the issues, this game could have been huge, but in the state in which it launched it was such a letdown. They partly fixed some of the issues, but it took too long. A grinding game like this needs to hook players from day 1.
