Ya I agree Anarki When I first played it on ps1 I had trouble navigating dude to the graphical technology at the time. Sometimes I couldn't tell a glitchy wall from a hidden one.

all those games were already in HD at least on the 360. so, this will be more like a port collection than a HD collection, right? I'm interested but how much will it cost? also 40 quid? if yes, then count me in!

I hope this isn't the same case scenario here? And why does Underworld need a "Makeover"? Wasn't that game released for the PS3 and 360 back then (ironically it was sub-HD)!

The 360 version of underworld got some exclusive dlc, i hope this gets released to ps3 either on the disc or on the store. several of these collections coming next year and i want even more like a final fantasy, resident evil, devil may cry!

first question why are these 3rd party games exclusive to ps3 oh because MS want money for each disk lol(just kidding i think that's the case more disks more cost for devs/publishers....but they could port these to XB live who knows)

they arent HD upgrades, the originals were HD games anyway, they are just ported to the ps3 as legend and anniversary didn't come out on ps3

i would have liked some of the ps2 games in HD though, all of these were released on current consoles and i own legend and anniversary so its not really worth me picking it up, even though im a huge fan.

im getting the PoP collection though, ive played the first one but not the other two, i have to admit i love the collections that are coming out, i never even played GoW until they released teh collection on PS3, great fun!

Technically the only one that was on the PS2 that isn't included here is Angel of Darkness. The PC version is better anyway, the PS2 port is a buggy mess. The concept behind it was great though but it needed more development time.

They also made an interactive DVD of Angel of Darkness so I guess you could pick that up instead and play it on your PS3. :P

Legends and Anniversary were on the PS2 but they had HD console versions on the 360 so a majority of the work has already been done here.

Every attempt in the world to fix the controls on the PC version - which I still have - was to no avail. Third party mapping programs, tweak after tweak, a great game damned by controls.

If this version redeems the controls then it is well worth it. And like any such title it is only served justice with a controller, not a KB/M. Day one purchase for me. And the term classic does apply for some as what designates a game such is an individual remembrance - not some board of judges.

Its Edios that is making the trilogy,sorry i mean Square Enix wants more money from older games,its not Sony,i think Jax and Daxter is owned by SONY so here is up to them to decide if they will make an HD version

Legend and Anniversary were never released on PS3. I'm guessing "HD remake" means "port of 360 versions" rather than upscaling the PS2 versions.

That's most likely correct.
Tomb Raider Anniversary on Xbox 360 was a 'reimagining' of the first game. Much of is the same, eg the iconic T-Rex moment, but with little extra flourishes.

Three games for the price of one. I'm happy to give these a try in preparation for the new Tomb Raider.

The 360 version of Legends and I think maybe Anniversary were just HD upscales of the last generation ones with some added effects. Underworld is the only true next gen Tomb Raider since it was running on a new engine built for the newer hardware.

I only played the first game, way back on my Sega Saturn - Never a big fan to be honest, and the UNCHARTED series has pretty much provided my fill of 'maverick explorer' gaming.
But, if the price is right I may have a dabble for old times' sake...

I never owned an N64. So I didn't play Mario64 till years later. TR was the only third person exploration type game in existence for me at that time. So I was blown away.

Anniversary, Legend and Underworld are considered the worst in the series along with The Last Revelation, Chronicles and Angel of Darkness.

This 'collection' would be 10x better if it had remakes of the first three Tomb Raiders, not two 360/PC 'HD' ports and a game that's already on the PS3.

I completly agree, it's so pointless, if it was the first 4 games, it would be worth it, not these really lacklustre titles.

A better collection would be, for example, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain or Thief...

I seriously disagree with you as to the quality of Anniversary, Legend, and Underworld. All three were pretty good and better than anythign excpet 1 and 2. 3 is where the series started to stink where it virtually forgot about tomb raiding and went to boat stunts and shoot-outs.

I do agree with the Legacy of Kain Collection idea. A collection of "HD remakes" of LoK including LoK2 and LoK would be pretty sweet.

Deus Ex only has two games unless you want to count Project: Snowblind as an unofficial side story. The 2nd Deus Ex fame isn't very good.

Thief....maybe. Only one was designed with consoles in mind and it was pretty much considered a huge drop in quality from the first 2.

TRA is 'considered' to be a brilliant remake of the first one, the general consensus is that it succeeded in recreating the fantastic atmosphere of the original game whilst fixing all of the controls/camera issues, EG awarded it a 9.

Legend revitalized the series after the abysmal mess that was AoD, got positive reception and the general consensus was that it succeeded in what was the most important thing at that moment - bringing the Core ruined franchise from the tomb.

Underworld was a rushed product, still got relatively positive reception, at least nowhere near the levels of the disasters you mentioned (*cough* 55 metacritic for AoD *cough*).

I agree, legends and anniversay are awesome games, I love legends especially because it made the TR franchise great again after the dismal AOD. Like I said before, Underworld was also great, but came out at the wrong time.

The AOD team was also working on a PSP remake of the first game separate from what Crystal Dynamics was doing. A tech demo was leaked and it looked pretty good, better than Anniversary on the PSP for sure. Eidos canceled it and instead went with CD's concept.

Lets see how well Crystal is able to handle a series which Core was forced to rush out on multiple occasions on a yearly basis. Assuming nothing has changed since then at Eidos or Square now I guess. People like to crap on Core for what happened to Tomb Raider yet Core had some insane conditions to fill.

Absolutely right, except for Last Revelation and Chronicles... I loved those. Last Revelation might be my favorite of the whole series. I loved all the Tomb Raiders until Angel of Darkness. The ones after that were improvements over AoD, but nowhere near as good as the originals. I'll pass on this collection.

I agree with you, The Last Revelation is indeed one of the best in the series imo, but it released at a wrong time.Actually, i'd rank it second among the old ones, just behind TR1.

I'd rank them in that order:
Tr1/TLR/Tr3/chronicles/Tr2 for the old ones (never understood why 2 was so popular, too much action. Though I bet it's the favorite of a lot of uncharted fans).

and Underworld/anniversary/legends /Aod for the "new" ones. Though legends, anniversary, and underworld are all great, and are all far better than AOD.

What the fuck? Anniversary is one of the best in the series how could it fucking not be. Totally disagree. Never played Legend but Underworld has some fantastic puzzles with some mediocre combat and great graphics. 3 is where things got lame and even 2 had too much combat but Anniversary is basically one but a whole fuckton better. Anniversary is the best fucking game in the series bar none!

sam you're crazy...Legends and Anniversary were awesome. I platinumed Underworld but didn't like it as much as the prior 2. Last Revelation, Chronicles, and AoD did suck, but Legend and Anniversary were surprisingly pretty damn good. But I agree with everyone wishing that they were HD versions of the classics.

Angel of Darkness is when I officially ended my affiliation with Tomb Raider! Chronicles was also pretty bad and come to think of it, I only really liked TR2... and parts of TR3(Desert Eagle FTW).

Uncharted fixed everything that is wrong with TR... except it lacks the boobs!

Crystal Dynamics just ret-conned the Tomb Raider franchise again. I could of sworn that Core made about 5 games before Crystal Dynamics made a 'trilogy'.

Never really understood the Tomb Raider franchise. Personally all of the games bored me even back when they first came out. I just remember really bad controls and over all it just put me to sleep. Plus all of the new Tomb Raider games this gen have just been awful. Besides for that PSN/XBL one.

Its already known that they are using the brand new ME3 engine. So that pretty much means they built it from the ground up on the PS3. As all games should be. Ports can be either pretty good or flat out bad. Building games from the ground up is the way to do it.

It would be great if TR Legends and Annivesary were more like Underworld in terms of visuals, and it would be even better if they added more content to those games just like Bioware have done with ME2 i.e. lots of DLC. I don't want those games being taken directly from the 360.

There is no "brand new ME3 engine", all the games including the PS3 ME 2 port uses the Unreal 3 engine. The only difference with the PS3's ME 2 port is the and added optimization for the PS3 thats it.

oh i don't know... wouldn't it be fantastic to get Uncharted 1 and 2 on one Blu-ray Disk about 3 months before Uncharted 3? not everyone has played these games. it would be a great way for them to be encouraged to jump on the Uncharted train (bargains are always good)

in fact, thinking about it, MM could easily put LBP1 on the same disk as LBP2. the engines are compatible and they could use LBP2s engine to run LBP1. i'm sure that would sell more copies

at below: yes, but you can't discount the bargain card... many may well have skipped them because of the price.

Yeah I know, I can understand re-releasing games like God of War 1 and 2 and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but these Tomb Raider games have only come out in the last couple of years and you can already get Underworld on PS3.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is great. although i have it on the wii, but it is still a blast. for once, after i beat the game, i played it just for fun. found all of the collectibles too.
although i never did beat her mansion.

I have zero interest in this hd remake. Same goes for Splinter Cell or Prince of Persia. The only collections I have are GOW and The Sly collection and the only other one I want is the ICO/Last Guardian collection!
