Rasool takes a look at some of the problems featured in Mass Effect and its sequel, and states why he feels it is overrated.

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed
Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.
I feel the same way.
I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?
Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.
Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.
Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

True, I Dont Get Whats So Nice About It
Mass Effect is a good series, not great but good. It has flaws just like every other game. The first one has so many problems like clunky combat, getting stuck at benches and horrible pacing, the sequel fixed many issues the first one had but it still have issues like getting stuck at benches(again) and downsized RPG elements. I hope ME3 will address all the issues the past games have.
when the universe is as rich and compeling as ME's, the rest of the game could be completely average and I would still play it
luckily the rest of the game is great,
about to release on the PS3...and now all of a sudden its overrated
but anywho, how is this game overrated, no one is like OMG this is the best game in the worldz!, everyone knows its a good game, it has its flaws like every single game.. but thats it.
It's not to do with the fact it's being released on the PS3, more the fact that it's been nominated for several game of the years from a number of sites. Please read the article before jumping to conclusions.
