Exclusive to the French Official PlayStation Magazine and JVN.com, Christophe Balestra says everything about Uncharted 3 : Drake's Deception!
Former Naughty Dog artist Gabriel Betancourt explains why the "sweet spot" for game teams is under 200 people and how AAA "factories" kill creativity.
There’s definitely some truth to this. When teams get too large, coordination starts to outweigh creativity—layers of approval, risk aversion, and tight deadlines can turn bold ideas into “safe” ones. Keeping a team under ~200 people sounds ideal for maintaining clear communication and a shared vision. That said, massive AAA projects also come with huge technical demands and expectations, so scaling up isn’t always avoidable. The real challenge is figuring out how to keep that small-team creativity alive inside big studio structures.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) is proud to announce that Evan Wells, former Co-President of Naughty Dog and one of the most respected studio leaders in modern game development, will be honored with a prestigious Hall of Fame Award. Wells’ induction will take place at the 29th annual D.I.C.E. Awards on February 12, 2026, at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas. Neil Druckmann, a longtime collaborator from Naughty Dog, will present Wells with his Hall of Fame Award live at the ceremony.
Neil Druckmann, the creative director of The Last of Us, is working on a new, unannounced game at Naughty Dog.
Wait I thought they cancelled a game? Or did they announce another project?

Your the man, Christophe Balestra. I like how he isnt afraid of the challenge to make UC3 a better overall experience then UC2 which is a tough task. We need more guys like this to lead the gaming industry forward with their great games.
NaughtyDog, always has been too, the one developer who I don't have to keep checking up on their work and progress to remain interested in their next offering. They're just that capable and that important to the industry. I didn't even have to see anything but the Uncharted 3 logo and I'd have been happy. I know this franchise was created by the best developers in the industry and that there isn't going to be any guilt when buying this game day one.
If I was handling the advertising for Uncharted 3 on Sony's end, it'd be as simple as this.
"Uncharted 3... It's a PS3 thing."
uncharted 3 is gonna be my game of the year 2011.
Uncharted: DF was the ONLY reason that stopped me from trading it for a 360 It was the 3rd game I've bought without any knowledge of this title whatsoever. What got my attention for this game was the studio name "Naughty Dog" on the bottom. Seeing that the last game I've played from this developer was over 10 years ago in a series called Crash Bandicoot, little did I know that this game would blow me away (more than any demo and multiplat I've downloaded and purchased) - and I never even knew they were a First-Party Studio. Thank you ND for justifying my purchase.
-End of Line
Uncharted is the reason my rice is soo sticky!!! ;D
