5 Things Mass Effect 3 Must Avoid

GamerZines writes:

The reveal of Mass Effect 3 was undoubtedly the stand-out moment from this year's VGAs, but true fans of the series know that BioWare's golden franchise needs to improve in a handful of key areas in order to fulfill its true potential.

Here are five things Mass Effect 3 must avoid.

good points there,

Hey Bioware! lets not go to earth until the final battle

like the equivalence of the Omega 4 relay from ME2

***5. Mission Critical Reports***

Not sure this is that big of a deal since at some point there's going to need to be lead-ins to new chapters by ending old chapters. When your whole mission base is on a ship, then it gets repetitive, unlike Dragon Age where the mission endings occurred in different cities since there was no home base. Something that changed with Dragon Age: Awakening, though, when the keep was again the only transition point.

***4. Simplification of the RPG Formula***

This would actually be a complication by equating individual xp gain with each opponent. But, I agree with this assessment and didn't like the bucket XP concept in ME2 personally over what they did with the first game.

***3. Needless Sex Scenes***

They didn't bothered me and I just skipped them. I do find that getting to that level of a relationship was important to me in both the first and second game.

***2. The Same Click, Talk, Fight Formula***

Please, no lame mini-games. I'd rather it stay the same than they add a mini-game that isn't additive to the storyline so much as a waste of time. I enjoyed the hacking/bypassing mini-games because they made me feel like I was performing the action being taken. And, there were a lot of times that I performed these actions in the game.

Regardless, the main point of the game is combat and storytelling. I don't want something that detracts from either of those.

***1. Too much focus on Earth***

I'm wondering if you really mean too much focus on Humans. Earth hasn't been a key element and in fact everything has been about colonies out in space. The fact that Earth is being attacked is like a sign of how far the reapers have gotten in the game, not because it's a focus on just Earth. There are tons of planets with human and other alien colonies out there that will need to be attacked and destroyed before they get to Earth.

This isn't about intergalactic exploration, either. It's about a defined galaxy being attacked and one of those places that can be attacked is Earth. Commonly used as a focal point in Sci-fi media where they want to show how devastating and dire the situation is in which the Human race is placed. Not because they think we want to see Earth, but it speaks louder than some random planet we feel no connection to being attacked.

"The reveal of Mass Effect 3 was undoubtedly the stand-out moment from this year's VGAs"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Fail site gets fail rating from me. Who the hell was talking about ME2 over Uncharted 3 after the VGAs?

kancerkid5637d ago

People who are fanboys maybe?

Ascalon945636d ago

If your being a smartass bravo. If not, how can someone be a fanboy if ME3 is a multiplat game

NexGen5637d ago

I was, and am, quite excited for both. I'm not sure if you have realized yet, but these new consoles come with an excellent feature known as the "eject button." Through the use of this feature, I am now capable of playing....now hold on for this news......MORE THAN ONE GAME! This truly defines this console generation.

M-Easy5637d ago

Um yeah Uncharted 3 is listed as the 4th hottest game at over 30,000 degrees. ME3 isn't even in the top 10. Believe me everyone is talking UC3.

Galaxia5637d ago

I have both a PS3 and 360, and like both the Mass Effect and Uncharted series.

I was a lot more exited about ME3 than Uncharted 3.

Stop trolling. People have differing opinions than you.

Ascalon945636d ago

well I am Mass Effect in my opinion is a lot more interesting than Uncharted 3. And that trailer seeing I guess Reapers has me 10x more pumped for Mass Effect 3 than Uncharted 3. So yeah.

il-mouzer5636d ago

If you consider games on a story and gameplay level Mass Effect wins hands down!

Uncharted 2 was just a very good third person shooter with some of the best cinematic animations in the industry, nothing more, nothing less.

actually good except i dont want a simple Rpg that is what disappointed me about the 2nd it was more shooter than anything, that and the mission reports but those were mentioned.

hopefully it will be a 2 disc game again!

SnakeMustDie5637d ago

There are no other things to avoid other than stripping of the RPG elements of the game. Some RPG elements of ME1 were stripped of the sequel. I hope they add more RPG elements and improve the shooting mechanics like how they did in ME2.

sway__z5637d ago

If this game is bigger in terms of content than 360's ME2, how many discs will it release on this time?

Good thing MS allows installs to HDD, even though most ppl won't care to disc swap, a lot of ppl still don't have a HDD on their 360...

*Don't even dare pointing Troll fingers at me...it's a genuine comment.

kancerkid5637d ago

I hope like 4 DVDs, honestly, I don't care about changing discs.

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine528d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast528d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman528d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier
