Nordcurrent has been awfully busy lately in producing games for the PSP, a few weeks ago a full fledged title, just before that, Jewel Keepers, and now another Mini, Arcade Essentials. With a title like that you’d expect it to be arcade games, and indeed it is the case, not at all like the rather tricky 5-in1 Arcade Hits from Grip Games, where only 1 was actually an arcade game.

"Having five replications of classic games may be a simple premise, but it's worked many times before. Especially considering the $5 price tag, surely there would be some merit to a package of this nature. But apparently, even with this kind of focus, a lot can still go wrong. As appealing as it may sound, Arcade Essentials is brought down by numerous problems that will make you think twice about spending money on this bargain buy." -- Wiiloveit.com

Arcade Essentials from Nordcurrent for the Wii is a modern take on the genre of old school arcade game. Contained within Arcade Essentials are five different titles that include Interceptor, Terra Conquerer, Color Cells, Troops Attack, and Hexagonum.

From the review:
"Nordcurrent’s Arcade Essentials collection doesn’t necessarily have anything that I would say is essential to your video game collection, but the games are rather entertaining nonetheless. The collection includes five games, each one a clone of a different classic that you have most likely played at some point in your life, especially if you were alive before spandex went out of style. Though the games all play differently, they share a similar retro style combined with an electronic soundtrack, much like Geometry Wars and various retro games that have been revived over recent years."
