but some scenes contained gasp-inducing graphical prowess.

Moments like running around outside that abandoned electrical station looked astonishing. Walking around in the mansion during that party. And of course, all the ARI environments.

This list is garbage. If you take one look at GOW, you can't argue it is the best looking game ever made. I'm sure Mass Effect looks great on a top of the line video card, but definitely not comparable to the Xbox version. And yeah, Red Dead looks great, but IMO there's some texture issues. GOW runs at 60 FPS and is just jaw dropping. Fail article.

The list was SOMEWHAT okay...dont really agree with Kane and Lynch although it is "unique"...but for me, the games that were at the top of the pack technically and visually ( That I Own):

Metro 2033: ON PC maxed is the best looking game ive EVER seen. yes EVER. This game single-handedly made me look at every other game and go " Meh...ive seen better" Ran at like 20fps tho on my comp maxed lmao. On a technical level it replaces Crysis as the mot demanding pc game ever

Red Dead: The effort that Rockstar mustve put in to make this beautiful game WORK must be commended...nothing else i can say, if u have it/played it u know what i mean

GoW3: EVerything. The game that almost broke my ps3 lmaoo that fan was working harder than anything ive ever heard. Too beautiful.

Mass Effect 2: Same. Very beautiful, looks movie like at times. Honesly I had a hard time believeing this was UE3 running this game.

Halo Reach: Beautiful game that made me apreciate the little things. Bungie managed to make it LOOK better than halo 3, RUN better than halo 3, and have more things going on.

Great year overall to be a gamer, but honestly N4G needs to change...you cant even write a comment without seeing a fanboy war taking off...just BUY BOTH CONSOLES. Heres a secret: if u only own a ps3 and go buy a 360, i HIGHLY doubt Sony will call you crying about how they caught you cheating, and ban u from the playstation clan. MS/SONY dont care. Metro in DX11 mode on max settings is by far the best looking game ever made as of now.
Now were NOT talking of the ass version on the Xbox360.
PC version.
In DX11 mode it blows away every game in 2010 by miles.
God of War should be placed higher. RDR is on the list? Unless you are saying great graphics for an OPEN style game, then maybe, but overall? No way. God 3 IMO should be second. Kayne and Lynch? Holy crap man. No way should that game be listed.
ME2 looks amazng..on the PC...but not number 1. Maybe in the top 5.

Console games running 720p or less using NAO32 instead of FULL precesion HDR and not using Tessalation and ADOF with low res textures in many places look better than Metro 2033 on MAX.

I definitely wouldn't place Mass Effect 2 at number one on that list - and that's based on my so far three play throughs of the PC version maxed at 1920x1200.

Yes, it has great facial animation and mostly fairly great looking faces in general (except for the not too flattering job they did on Yvonne Strahovski as Miranda), but even though most of the environments are also a significant visual step up from ME1, it's definitely not enough to warrant a first place on a graphical top 10 list in my opinion - probably not even the top 5.

Not only has it set the bar for a download game, but its the best lighting and best USE of lighting I've ever seen.

no game this year even comes, not anywhere near Metro2033 in graphics on a dx10 or espeacially a dx11 machine...graphics-wise it DESTROYS every other game this year...

though as a total package god of war 3 was a better game imo

I'd imagine the best graphics for 2010 would have been on a powerful PC, simply because it's an ever evolving/upgradable platform.

But if we're talking consoles, in my opinion only & not in any order.

God Of War 3, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 - PS3.

Reach, Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake - 360.

If we're all honest about this, there's not a whole lot of difference (Graphically) between the 360/PS3. Seems PS3 has a better CPU in Cell, and 360 has a better Graphics card.

*I'm not 100% if some of those games were late 2009, early 2010. But I was still playing them 2010.

List has some problems - Kane and Lynch - NO. The order is screwed up - sorry, but GT5 is a top 5. Enslaved looked nice, but probably not top 10 material. Limbo was a great game and was very artistic and the design was great, but graphics wise, no.

I got Mass Effect 2 maxed out on my pc and i still think many consoles games look better than it. Visually mass effect 2 isn't special at all.

lords of shadow should be in the top 10 somewhere. By the way what counts as best graphics? Does cut scenes where they use model swaps, prerendered video/cgi aka ff13 etc. Or does in game only where you control the character counts?

i saw metro 2033 dx11 maxed out gameplay.. and it does look damn beautiful..
but we can't compare a PC which is constantly evolving to a console such as PS3 or Xbox which havent evolved in 4 years.
It's a marvel at what Sony Santa Monica achieved with the ps3.. and they said they only used <33% of the power of the cell-processor! (:O)
thats a pretty bold statement considering your game has revolutionized what can be achieved graphically on a console.

I had no problem with it once that was read because artistic arguments are always subjective, but to have a mis-leading title that would deliberately anger those that have a hard enough time with reading comprehension. And in the end U3 will crush them all, yes, that includes Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 and yes I know its still 2010.
Oh and god of war 3 hands down on any platform.

I loved Red Dead Revolver, and I love Redemption even more, but when you start to group it into the graphical powerhouses in 2010 you're just.....wrong.

The game is immensely fun and has hours of stuff to do, but it is FAR from one of the best looking games of the year. Just my opinion of course.

Probably one of the best scenes in a video game ever. Best Boss battle of all time. It was the first time ever in any video game were the environment is actually a creatures body. The graphics in that level were flat out amazing.
