Blu-ray's Dirty Little Secret

Apparently, a number of (US) movie studios that claim to be devout, faithful supporters of the BD format are guilty of a little electronic adultery. HD DVD is the mistress at a secret challis, in other markets. Life is interesting indeed...

I'm sure the underground is flooded with secret Blu ray exclusives that are also on HD DVD. Just too bad no one has found them yet.

Hey you guys want to start looking?

frizshizzle6844d ago

Blu-ray's had a bad weekend..

nasim6845d ago

However HD DVD just keeeps on dying

Blu-ray is beating it 3:1 in NA and 9:1 in EU and JAPAN

BTW transformer had no effect on HD DVD sales. Despite people preordering it the sales of HD DVD is the same as it was before

BOTS :- HD DVD would be dead by the end of this year

Nasim, atleast you are supplying links now but did you even look at the link you supplied? Tell you what, go to all those sales rankings and click 'show all' instead of 'last 24 hours' and you will see that Blu-Ray only leads by about 20-25%.

And based on Sony's own sales data from their recent keynote, an interesting trend is happening, See attached

toughNAME6845d ago (Edited 6845d ago )

but it seems legite, plus theres plenty of links

ill approve

It is kind of shocking that supposed "exclusive" Bluray supporters do in fact release movies on HDDVD. I guess none of these contracts are set in stone.

I don't understand why any movie studio would support Bluray when upgrading DVD-9 lines will cost them over a million dollars. And the upgrade to HDDVD will only be 150,000.

It really doesn't seem like a sound business strategy.

Start finding all those Blu ray exclusives on HD DVD, that no one has ever found yet. Expose the truth!!

did you...read the article?

Sony pictures, Silent Hill is on HD DVD? Sony decided to make it on HD DVD also, just for the hell of it.

Momof46845d ago (Edited 6845d ago )

Yep, I ordered the HD DVD versions of Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Resident Evil: Apocalypse (along with Renaissance) from Amazon.de a couple weeks ago. Underworld (Amazon.de) and Underworld: Evolution (DVDGO.com) will probably get ordered in the next two weeks.

Already have both Terminator 2: Judgement Day and The Prestige on HD DVD, not to mention other HD DVD imports that may not be Blu exclusive, but aren't available here in the US right now.

It's too easy to import discs and purchase imported discs to not take advantage of HD DVD's region-free aspect.

And, no, it didn't require much time or effort to find these "Blu exclusives" on HD DVD at all.
