Why do people act like 530,000 sold is crap? Anyway, it isnt surprising 360 took this month as well considering Kinect and blackops. But what about December and beyond. Wonder if they can keep it up. No one really has a big game for december and people still buy lots of stuff after black friday. Oh, and also im sure PS3 sold well outside US.

I will say this once and ill say it again, the only reason 360 sales more is price. Nothing more nothing less. I guarantee once PS3 drops to $199.99 (which will be next year) the ps3 will take off big.

Sony's marketing is perfect and move is selling well. They obviously have the better games.

Remember when the 360 was 300/400 it was getting killed by the wii. As soon as 360 dropped to 199 it outsold the wii. Same will happen to PS3 next year

And 360 fans are forgetting the 360 once had a 8 million console lead over the ps3, now that lead is just 4 million and that was just in the last year and PS3 is not even $199.99 yet.

the great thing is now there are many ps3's in the install base that 3RD party's will still keep making games for it!

and Sony expanded into 19 more countries in the world that playstation product's are being distributed in. hell in some places the PS2 was just released there it's a new console there and has one hell of a software game lib.

and it's still selling very well. the PS3 will replace the ps2 in those areas as the PS4 or what ever it's called get's rolled out.

it's not about right now it's about selling the product as long as you can.

and the PS3 has not even priced @ $200.00 yet.

already for a new IP uncharted has sold over 8 million copy's world wide. for a New IP.

I could care less if Sony only sells 10 units and Xbox 360 sells 10,000,000 units, as long as Sony keeps announcing exclusive games and content. 2011 Line-up so far

I don't know how people can support M$ after they support Kinect so much, and have literally no Hard Core games coming out next year.

It will be funny when all of the people who bought Kinect for Xmas this year, are stuck with it in January, after the novelty wears off. How much jumping around and batting at balls on screen can you really do?

1st. Not all exclusives are at the same level. KZ3, Uncharted 3 and Resistence, YES. KUDOS for Sony!! The others on your lists, nobody cares about. Sony had many exclusives this year as well and it didn't chage anything. Think about this; you buy a game with good online, you'll play it more (instead of buying another one). I don't have time to buy/play 10 games. Some do; most don't.
2nd. Xbox Live. I own a PS3 60 gig. Nice machine (VUDU rocks), but frankly, I rather play MW2 still today more than Uncharted 2 because of online on Xbox. Online is the thing to do.
3rd. Kinect, no, I don't want one, but MS' strategy paid off.

I own a 60 gig and a 360 slim. I use my PS3 more often mainly for BR. But it's time to admit that 360 is cool as well. Better GPU, and easier to program for (like PS1 was compared to Saturn).

We all know about 30% of the 360 fanbase has bought more than one 360 for whatever reason (RROD).

The 360 holds a commanding North America lead that may never be surpassed.

Im impressed with Microsoft's success with Kinect. I truly am. I personally don't see much in the device. It really does seem like a limited, Eyetoy ripoff, targeted directly at little kids under 12. I do not see in any way how Kinect is the future of gaming. It is a novel idea and I tried it for only 15 minutes, but after that it was basically "wheres the game pad because I wanna play Dante's Inferno." So great job Microsoft for selling all those bundles.

I do think SONY America is doing the right thing here. In response to the latest NA data, they're touting their own sales and promoting next years cache of exclusives. What else can ya do, really? I know many of us are totally psyched for the big 3 next year. Woohoo! Cole, Drake, and Chimera! Woohoo!

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
