The first-person-shooter world is dominated by the goliath franchises of Halo, Call of Duty, and Gears or War. Each franchise made a name for itself with its own unique style, whether the players are fighting aliens, monsters, or other human beings, even people who have never touched the games can instantly tell what they are. Gears of War is of course and third-person-shooter, which contributed to it's popularity when it arrived on the scene, yet each new title from these franchises seems to be drifting toward one center point. A point where the titles are guaranteed to make money, taking few risks and finding more and more similiarities with each other with eachnew title. Every title from the three franchises now includes a horde mode, originally found in Gears of War, custom classes, originally found in Call of Duty, first and third-person options, experience bars instead of skill levels, the list goes on...

Brink has to go up against KZ3, and RAGE so lets wait till all three games are out, and see how Brink does first.
Gears of war? It's a great series but...not great enough to transcend genres. Gears is a THIRD person shooter Mr Author
