Kinect left open for Modders 'On purpose'

TechRadar: Microsoft has responded to the myriad reports that Kinect has been 'hacked' by saying that it always wanted its motion controller to be open.

According to a transcripted interview with Microsoft program manager Alex Kipman, Kinect hasn't been hacked at all, merely played around with.

I think it's cool what modders are doing with Kinect. I posted an article just a couple of days ago with some of the cool things that they've got Kinect doing. I especially liked the real time 3d imagining that the one guy had. It'll be cool to see what the modding community comes up with, and if Microsoft will make use of some of their ideas in the future.
