Play Mag: A behind the scenes glimpse at Play's recent visit to Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Dan Forden writes: "Wednesday was my last day at Netherrealm. We made a lot of fun stuff over the years. I’m really proud of what we accomplished as well as how much fun we had making that stuff. There are so many smart, talented people there - look for more great things to emerge over the next several years. I love the little touches that people left around the studio like this little Toasty homage on the bathroom mirror.
I wouldn’t have lasted 37 years in the industry if fans weren’t out there playing the games we made. Thanks to all of you for supporting what we’ve done.
Live long and…
Toasty!"
Dan Fordens last good soundtrack was Mortal Kombat 4. A few good tracks here and there after that in MKDA-MK Armageddon but after that ..the Music in MK games and especially in the injustice games became boring background noise.

A new book detailing the artwork of the franchise has been announced
Let me fix this title to something less click baity for you:
New Book: Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced.
I grew up on this stuff. Adding it to the art collection!
I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂
I hope that this is a glorious birth of the MK dev team. I haven't minded the past gens games, but somewhere, they lost what MK was. Makes me also wonder what ELSE Neverrealm are going to make BUT MK.
I also hope that since Warner seemed to of bought most of Midways IP and stock that they set a team to do something about Psi-Ops.
Any idea what happen to the MK HD Kollection? Was looking forward to that as I was a huge fan of MK series, especially MK2 & UMK3 for Snes.
I still have one of those Mortal Kombat advertising banners in the picture above. It's made of silk, and I was given it by my Uncle when I was a kid just before the first Mortal Kombat were released on home consoles!
Nice pics. I hope they make the MK game I have been waiting to play all these years. My last favorite MK game was UMK3.
